until it's announced I'm not sure if it may not be the other way round and he's using west ham to get TFG to move now on getting rid of Dyche

I'll be honest, I kinda thought it was nailed on West Ham until I heard about the 6 month thing. Which is like a total insult. I'm not a big fan of Moyes, but I doubt he'd take a 6 month gig. It's the sort of gig you give to Mark Noble or someone.

It makes no sense as well, because Potter does his best work over time. He's not strictly speaking a firefighter. So if you were home, you'd probably be very put off by that.

It's an idiotic thing to do, but then that's the Sullivan's and Brady all over.

Oh for sure mate, they put together a great group of players, just never were able to keep the key ones long enough and add to them.

For me, Brighton under Potter was a team I'd switch on to watch if I had nothing else on as you knew you'd see an enjoyable match, I miss thinking that snout any Everton side for years

The one thing I'd say in favour of Potter, is when he took over Brighton, there were a lot of similarities to us. Houghton had done a solid job for them, but just wasn't utilising the players they were bringing in. A bit like us. Potter was a much better fit and works into a DOF model very well.

It could work out very sensibly, in that Dyche could have provided a defensive stability, and Potter can build a bit beyond that.

I'm convinced he will get more out of DCL/Broja as attackers too. I'm not saying they are brilliant, but we would get more from them.

There's lots of factors against him. He was rubbish at Chelsea, but I'll be honest, I just think we are a million miles from Chelsea. Chelsea have always been a very unique club, doing very different things to what we are attempting to do. That was always an awful move for both parties.

Suspect West Ham have given him longer.

1. He takes six months, essentially becomes a firefighter.
2. No expectations this season except stay up. Why would he take six months.
3. If they appoint someone for six months again and then go for someone else they may actually make Moshiri look competent in terms of ownership.
4. DoF will leave in summer I think. Perhaps Ashworth will come in.

Various media sources reporting Potter has a choice between Everton and West Ham with a decision likely in the next 24 hours.

I think it's a big risk. With the squad being so poor and trying to implement Potterball midway through the season and scrapping the relegation zone. I'm on the fence about Potter's capabilities too. However a freshening up and change of approach is now needed. I just don't think it should be Potter.

So would you be happy with Dyche being relieved of his duties in return for Potter taking charge?
I don’t want Potter but I would be happy for Dyche to be relieved of his duties and for Franks to replace him.

My thinking is any manager coming in whose off put by the prospect of going down should not be a consideration, they should be backing themselves to be good enough to get the points needed.

Hopefully in discussions TFG assure January backing for the amount possible within PSR as well to make the job a bit easier.

I know there's a debate about scoring goals v being tight defensively and which is better. But for a side at the bottom, I'd take being good defensively above all else. It gives you a platform. If your shale is awful and you're easy to play against, it's really difficult.

It's kind of why Martinez lucked out that first season after Moyes, as he could just experiment with such a solid base.

Like we are not in that position, but I think there is definitely a chance to coach some attacking play and see some upside.

Like I know people are hard on them, but DCL, Broja, Lindstrom and even Harrison are not that bad as players. They are capable of scoring and creating

A lot of ifs and burs though mate. If I was Potter I'd be alarmed they want me for 6 months.

Wham reportedly were also talking to Fonseca and Galtier. I'd be happy with either of those 2 - a massive upgrade on Dyche.
I wanted Galtier a few years back. The job he did with Lille was incredible. However, I think our fans and players of African and our Islamic heritage might have a thing or two to say about it. And rightly so.

Blimey Potter is hardly anything to shout out about. It’s strange what desperation will do to a man.

Already managed Roma under the Friedkins, any idea why they didn’t renew his contract?

@AS Roma_fan?
I think they were eager to make impactful choices, to build their own structure. They had inherited Fonseca from the previous ownership. They parted ways on good terms with him.

They also wanted to send a message. "We want to win" or something like that. Mourinho is still highly regarded in Italy as someone who brings silverware.

And, despite the team being far from complete and the club's finances being in a poor state, he won a Conference and reached the Europa League final the following year. We lost on penalties. Mourinho could have actually won tho European trophies in two years in the middle of a rebuilding process.
I'm not his greatest supporter, but I must give credit to him - and to the Friedkins who chose him - for having done very very well in Europe.

But...

Fonseca had already reached the Europa League semifinals the year before the Conference victory, while De Rossi reached them again last year replacing Mourinho. So it might be that the Friedkins value European competitions a lot and want managers to give priority to Europe over domestic competitions.

I’m not sure it’s that cut and dry. It’s important to remember that West Ham are actually still ran as a basket case and a Friedkin owned Everton may not be.

Oh the leaks from the west ham side I causing a photo from the third of December showing a 'meeting' with potter which turned out to be when he was at a west ham game doing media work btw, remind me very much if Bill and Moshiri circus where everything was getting leaked by various people.

Think right now their DoF is leaking everything trying to force the scenario as he apparently got banned from the training ground by the current manager - Moyes did the same btw, the owner apparently was the guy who wanted their current manager also the DoF didn't.

Bit of a circus there right now with competing factions within the club.

Wouldn't be shocked if Potter ends up at us btw, not one bit
