If he takes it and he's rejected us - doesn't fill me with confidence about our profile, how attractive we are and who we could get or rather end up with it.
I think most managers looking for an easy gig would probably prefer West Ham at this very minute. West Ham for six months is as easy as it comes, they are underperforming their squad by more than we are so improvement shouldn’t come hard. And very little pressure / expectation- they won’t go down but after their start nor can they push for Europe.

Much, much more immediate pressure here which he may or may not fancy but that would say more about him and his appetite.

Are there any metrics by which Potter is a superior choice to Moyes? The latter's performance at West Ham is far superior to Potter's at Brighton. He also won a European trophy.

The only way I could see Potter as being a better fit is if they want an amenable coach who will allow a DOF to dictate recruitment, etc. His teams are dull as dishwater and have no cutting edge.
People think Potter is the second coming coz he wears a turtle neck.

That's why I don't want him here, his win percentage is not great, 31.11 at Brighton and 38.71 at Chelsea.
Yup. You can argue Frank had a tougher gig with the embargo and was completely unproven but he managed to get more than 52% win rate at Chelsea. Ironically, Lampard was fired as he kept trying to get them to sign Declan Rice, a deal that would have been much cheaper than the price he went for to Arsenal.

Yeah I get the feeling to some extent his agent is using us to force them to cave and offer longer to beat us to it. Which they may well reluctantly do, but he should be questioning that reluctance.
If what's been leaked about the offer WHam made to him is true, if he takes that job he's an absolute mug.

I think we go down if potter is brought in now.
Moyes to the end of the season. Let potter go to West Ham.

Btw Potter didnt build BHA to what they are now and it improved there after he left…

Errrm did you watch how Brighton played under Houghton, it was Dyche lite. Potter 100% completely changed their style and system of play and among with the chairman and DoF put into place the system and structure that they have followed subsequently.

But no doubt that Potter was the start of it all

I'm in the No camp here. Potter plays free flowing possession based football. Our shower can't string 3 passes together! Maybe with a full pre season and a bunch of new players it would work, but trying to change to his style mid season with our crop of wasters is a recipe for disaster.

No, he plays negative keepball. He would end up being Mike Walker Mk II.

He's perfick for West Ham. Not too much pressure at that club. They've got quality players and will be nowhere near the relegation spaces, and they'll probably sell Paqueta in the summer for £100m so he'll probably get to go on a £200m shopping spree to get a nice squad in place.

Agree. Same applied to Bielsa few seasons back. Nice idea in theory. The reality is that this group of players are so limited they'll literally implode going from Dyche to any form of actual football based manager.

The goalkeeper and centre halves are the strength of the team. We don't need a manager to make us more solid, we need someone to teach us basic pass and move which will allow us to create 2 or 3 chances a game in open play.

Nobody thinks the squad is good and top half quality or anything like that. But the team is still hugely underperforming in attack and failing to score in 7 out of 10 games is beyond dreadful.

We need someone to coach us properly to create chances. We don't need a park the bus manager. The centre halves and goalkeeper are more than good enough, its the rest of the squad that is very poor.

We play like we do in part because I do t actually think Dyche can cos h beyond a very very basic rudimentary level, it's why if we do try to play front foot we look wide open, front foot requires coaching on players dropping into covering positions and being switched on to prevent the counter. That requires working on the tracking grounding on note than fitness and maintaining very rigid positions.

Brighton under Potter never recruited anything other than journeyman type attacking players due to funds in part, if they had have had a couple of semi decent forwards they'd have been pushing on the door of the top 6 every season.

It's unfortunate that we are (hopefully) looking for a manager at the same time as West Ham, as we are definitely the less attractive of the two posts.
