The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

To be fair to the Director of Football, he has done his job very well for the former owner. He made a profit each window.

But, as we all know, the former owner was driving us off a cliff.

Now that we have, apparently, been rescued, we probably need a new DoF to execute a more progressive and, from a football perspective, effective plan for the good of what is, effectively, a different club.
Assuming the Friedkin mandate isn’t more of the same.. we all assume it isn’t but remains to be demonstrated by them.

They better had. Loads too.

I dont want to hear anything from that new Radar O'Reilly faced Chairman about PSR.

They want involvement in a PL outfit they better be backing it with some serious cash or they'll be run out of town much quicker than Moshiri was.

we can’t spend loads

but we should be able to spend “some in this window anyway “

it’s how we spend it all so

I agree with both points but I can’t pretend i think recruitment is satisfactory.

If you spend £200m , £2m or £200k you need to bring in the best you can . How we can justify spending 50% of your budget on a player doesn’t seen to make any sense to me

We've not invested in the team. We've made a profit for 5 years, the only team to do so. Thats including teams who have spent years in the Championship.

The players we have been able to bring in, have had to be available after we'd sold players first and guarenteed a profit in that window, and often for the smallest initial fee to defer payments. See, Beto.

To contest a very simple point that this club needs to spend with "we have we have a left back who cost £22m and Beto on the bench" is disingenuous. I know there's a few loan fees here but this was the last 11 at Goodison;

Pickford £30M
Young £0
Tarkowski £0
Branthwaite £1M
Mykolenko £22M
Harrison £0
Mangala £0
Gueye £2M
Doucoure £20M
NDiaye £15M
Broja £0

Half that team are leaving in a few months, managed by someone who knows he's leaving too.

I then look at the likes of Bournemouth who have spent £250m net the past 3 years and a lot of that is on players in the final third, and Forest who have spent more....

Without any doubt at all, Everton have to start spending money.

Im painfully aware of our very bad NET spend.

But the fact is, we had Beto on the bench yesterday, 25m, we had JOB on the bench yesterday, 20m, we had Broja on the bench, 30m Striker, we had DCL on the bench, 60m Striker, Jack Harrison is a 20m Winger and so on.
Using 2 loanees and a lad we signed for a mill to claim we misspent 100 mill is a very odd take amico

Thats right, give them something impossible to achieve.
Impossible to achieve?!?!

WTF are they here for if they're not protecting this club's PL status.

I tell you this: if they dont do the business this window they'll never recover their credibility amongst this club's supporters.

I dont want to hear anything from that new Radar O'Reilly faced Chairman about PSR.
Ok, I know you’re just a WUM account but I’ll bite here. Given that the executive chairman has already mentioned PSR is an issue in the short term (because the last fella left us in such a debt ridden mess), what exactly do you want done here? Ignore PSR? I’d love them to stick it to the premier league, but we know they have no qualms at all in punishing Everton, and very harshly. So how do you want the new owners to spend untold millions to ease our relegation burden whilst also appeasing our current PSR concerns?
