The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Looks like 4 teams will be fighting it out unless Brentford start dropping a few points at home.

2024 wins by month below.
April looks like an anomaly and I wouldn’t expect a repeat this year.
All it takes is Ipswich or Leicester to pick up a few wins and we are down, assuming Man City don’t receive a huge points deduction.
Our only hope is that one of the above 2 teams are as bad as Luton last season.
The Friedkin Group must be shitting themselves.

Back to hoping the current bottom 3 are as bad as the last two years were if we stay with Dyche in charge.

Tbh mate its been that way all season. You've always got a chance if you can score. Thats why i was hoping Wolves would stick with O'Neil. They could score with him but not keep them out. Only took a manager to plug a few holes at the back and they'd start climbing.
I hated dyche smug satisfied face after the Arsenal game. He was so delighted with his zero shots at goal point. In a bizare way i'd rather have got beat having had attempts at goal because the bigger picture is a team creating. What it promotes is games like yesterday at home and not a single shot on target until i think around 80 minutes.
We've got a manager who gets hard ons over 0-0's. I know we're not blessed but any team that is worse than a goal per game halfway through the season is in huge trouble. The evidence is there as the other two are Southampton and ipswich. Bottom and 2nd bottom. Even more trouble when the manager is delighted with not a single shot at an opponents goal. I'm sorry but if you're celebrating 0-0s your club is rotten and the mentality likewise. You grab a point. Keep your head down and go home. Not fanfare it.
If you cant score. You'll eventually go down.

April was the real purple patch. Lost 6-0 to Chelsea and then clearly a few words were exchanged and there was a response. Same this season with the Man. United thrashing and then responding well against Wolves.

Can't be waiting that late this season to string a couple of wins together, April is also one of the toughest months of the season with the fixtures.

We'd be better off playing the weakest teams at home and the best away as were likely to lose against the best teams anyway. We have less chance of beating even the weakest teams away.
Facing the big boys at home reduces our chances of gaining points.
Not sure I agree there, I think by and large the respective fixtures for the sides at the bottom will largely cancel themselves out anyway. It's all moot with just three wins.
We have home games against all our direct rivals and we have to look to win all of them though I expect little to nothing.

I think Wolves will be ok but have to hope that their bounce is temporary. They will certainly encounter more rough spells. Be crazy if they coasted to mid table comfort under Pereira, but very Everton also.
They’ve scored more than double the number of goals we have so if they can even just play half decent defence, they’ll be OK. They were conceding more than 2 a game under O’Neil.

Dyche has taken us as far as he can - we have the oldest, slowest team in the prem - He & the DOF had funds in the summer window - one player has emerged - too many have not - why sign a CB & not play him ?

Moan that's all he does - he has gone with what he has so he says - as he has been here 2 years it's his squad .... now ... no excuses he is a Championship manager at best no one was queuing up to sign a 39-year-old right back in Young who has don okish but has not got the pace of Patterson or Dixon - the left back needs dropping & surely a different formation is needed - IMO he has lost the plot & the dressing room

Totally self-inflicted, stage managed relegation threat 24/25. Notts Forest are one of a number of teams that have moved on. The usual teams that are in the bottom are (usually) the 3 promoted teams, and, Everton. But only because we have a self fulfilling desire to be in a relegation scrap. 17th is our target.
