Excited to see where he ends up then.
I’m in no doubt if we have 300m budget Dyche prob isn’t the man.
If we are working to towards being a self sustaining club (read not external investment) they may like the Dyche model.
Wolves owners have recently said they are only interested in a sustainable model. I think the tides are changing with ownership now, not sure how it will look.
We have a good stadium, let’s hope good time come.

I think you're overstating this.

In my opinion, the aim for last season (post points deduction) was stay up at all costs. I had no real issue with how we achieved that, as long as we did.

Again, in my opinion, we have a better first 13/14 now than we did last season, and without the added pressure of point deduction(s) hanging over us, all I wanted to see was improvement on last season. I'm not suggesting 'expansive free flowing football', but build on our solid defensive unit and strong set-piece game by getting our foot on the ball more and building attacks and carving out more/better chances from open play. With the likes of Mangala, Ndiaye and the added pace of Lindstrom I don't think that's too much to ask?
The fact that we are the only club not to invest over the last 5 years and you think we are doing well, kind of suggests that Thelwell has done really well.

we had a terrible start but there is nothing past the four first games that have made us look like a relegation club. Ndiaye is good on the eye but not been much of game changer for most of his career in terms of goals and assists. The other two, I’m not 100% sure at all. The squad may be marginally better but other teams have also improved around us (With expecting of Palace). We probably exceeded expectations last season and this year so far marginally under performing but I think we are looking solid and building each game now.
There are no goals in the team and the transfer market we are operating in doesn’t allow us to buy a premier league goalscorer. Even if it did I’m not sure who we would look at

For arguments sake Dyche keeps playing the old has beens, does not give the young players a chance to develop their skills. Because he does not like taking a chance !
The counter to this is what’s happened to every young player we have sold to other teams in the last 10 years.
the quality isn’t coming through and hasn’t since Barkley.

Thelwell has his critics on here which I fully understand, but given the circumstances of the absolute state the club has been in over the last few years, I do think overall he has done a good job. With Moshiri and Kenwright sticking their noses in, zero money to spend and an over-inflated wage bill, the fact we are where we are is somewhat of a success.

That's not to say we shouldn't be looking to improve year on year though.

Those first 4 games have made a big impact on our league placing and probably will for the rest of the season. We *should* have gained at least 4 points from the Bournemouth and Villa games considering we were 2 up in both. That would have us currently on 20 points from 16 games, 14th in the league, 8 points clear of the bottom 3 and on course to achieve 47/48 points. I think a lot of folk would be content with that league position, even if there's been no improvement in our football.

I'll be interested to see if a fit Broja adds something to us up top.

Stock will be high at the end of the seasom

none of this is Dyche fault. Transfers based on accounting requirements not squad requirements.
Thelwell and Dyche have been two of the most unappreciated stars of this New Starium and Take over project.
Litterally nothing to work with and made us competitive. It’s been some of the best crisis management keeping us in the division and preventing further points deductions.
Think the issue is that people wanted to added sexy football to this crisis.

the options at our level were…
1. Cheaply assembled squad
2. Retain premier league survival
3. Play expansive free flowing football.

Unfortunately you can only ever chose two. And the the first two were the necessity.

If the new owners are coming in and throwing money at the project then we can drop the cheaply assembled squad, and add the sexy football.
All I know is that there are not American owners that don’t view football as a cash cow rather than a vanity project where you throw money left right and centre.
How disappointing that moshiri was the man to spend but messed litterally every purchase.
Unless he significantly drops his wage demands, I think he'll struggle for work after this.

You could get the same out of Pulis, Bruce, et al for a fraction of the price.

It's the same reason Moyes is being overlooked every time a job comes up (not that he's in the same class as the above, but he's still very expensive relative to the fare on offer).

I wouldn't say there are any miracles being performed here. It's the 11th highest wage bill in the league, the fifth most expensive manager and some of the worst football I've ever seen. If we stay up, it will be in spite of Thelwell misallocating resources to sign players that don't get a game (Beto, Chermitti, O'Brien) when the full-back and goal-scoring situations are so diabolical, although I do fully expect him to blag another year out of the new owners.

Dont think there is anything wrong with playing older players provided they are performing.
Young & Gueye are both doing that for example.

Having a few young players in the side is a great thing (Branthwaite), but it cant be at the expense of actually getting results.
Every manager in the PL will select an older player over a young player provided they are performing

While we get results against the big hitters he’ll stay, if we continue to play in the same backs against the wall way against the lower teams, and not getting wins he’ll be sacked. It’ll be interesting to see how he performs with pressure on him.

I think we know what will happen...

Our good run against the top sides likely ends on Thursday. Law of averages suggest we have run out of road in these games and we are always obliging patsies to a player who needs a goal or a team which needs a win from somewhere. DEFEAT.

Then, a real moment of truth - at home to Forest. This is a game that a manager with designs on longevity has to win. But our players - and our style of play - mean we are always in the margin of error in these games and so we could end up with a frustrating 1-1. DRAW.

A visit to Bouremouth offers the chance of redemption - but we don't win on the road. DRAW.

We will have enough to drag ourselves to victory over Peterborough in the cup - but only just if we start messing with the team - which we will. WIN.

Then two games that suit the Dyche style. At home to Aston Villa and Spurs. DRAW and DEFEAT.

That run of results isn't getting anyone a contract extension. Three points leaves us in peril. He really does have to take four from the Forest and Bournemouth double-bill if he doesn't want to invite a wind of change later in January before the window SLAMS SHUT!

Not really. The PSR issues will effectively be resolved by the summer - and our new owners are properly rich, unlike the accountant who was dependent on dubious oligarch money to keep the lights on.

All money helps - but the point I am making is an extra few million for a higher finish in the table is not something that is essential to the new owners: avoiding relegation is. So, 17th is the baseline. Anything else is nice.
If we look as if we're heading for 17th well according to you fair enough, but there's always a margin of error and 17th could become 18th, even if it's on GD...somebody scores a last minute Aguerrrrro
And you're gone.
Downward spirals are tricky

This would be a game we would be better off trying to go and win rather than sit back and let them attack the whole game. We might be letting them play their way into confidence
