I still assume the idea was to bring him in to play off Dom, which couldve worked somewhat, but we never really saw it in action. If he was brought in to be our lone striker, that would be absolute madness.

He probably was brought in to be a lone striker because that’s where he played for Brighton.

Look at where we were before he came, and look at where we are now.

We now have a better squad, we spend less on wages, the signings we've made since he joined have more hits than misses, we've been in profit every year (in terms of transfers at least), the Academy is showing a financial return via sales and we are performing better in the league. He doesn't panic buy either, which is of course one of the things that wasted so much money since Moshiri took over.

I don't know what else people want from a DoF in the situation we were (and are) in, but I don't think anyone could have done better than he has in that situation.

I know it's not a great metric, but also look at the players he wanted or were linked but we had to keep in limbo because we couldn't sell and had no money to buy.

And I don't think people quite realise how difficult it is to sell players who are on big wages with long contracts.

Think he’ll get the boot pretty quick but also think he’ll leave with a good reputation.
Him and Dyche seem don’t seem to get on at all.

"In that situation."

The same can be said for Dyche - but people, rightly, want a new manager for a new situation.

The same applies for Thelwell.

With new owners, the job description has changed. If we advertise the job tomorrow, it would be an incredible coincidence if out of all the directors of football in the world, Kevin Thelwell was the best man for the job.

It's time for ambition now - not making do.

I personally think there's a decent chance Dyche stays in post until such point as he's got us a few games adrift in the bottom three. Obviously we lose the next three and take a heck of a hammering on goal difference, but as long as we beat Southampton we probably won't enter the new year in the relegation zone.

Clearly that's nowhere near good enough though and it would be an utterly terrible way for the new owners to start their tenure at the club.

Clear the decks.

I don't agree on either of these points. I can accept that he may not have been able to attract his top targets for a variety of reasons, but I still feel our recruitment during his tenure has been very poor.

I couldn’t disagree more - we aren’t panicking and buying under him, which was what filled the squad with dross that has had to be removed at a loss. There is also a plan, which wasn’t the case when we were buying three 10s not so long ago.
