I think my list is largely American; all food is a cooking style, the ingredients are simply what is native to your region; America is a nation of immigrants so many of its foods are amalgamations, but that makes the result no less unique and American. A good example of this is the NYC deli sandwich; specifically the reuben and corned beef, which have European roots but you don't get it served that way in Europe. My favorite sandwich I've ever had is probably a Schwartz's, but even this is unique and not at all American even if a cousin. But then you also have many pockets of truly unique foods built on the imagination of immigrants, like the banh mi, which is a uniquely Vietnamese version of the New Orleans po-boy*.

*wikipedia suggests the banh mi was native to Vietnam in the 1950s prior to immigration of many Vietnamese to New Orleans, but I will not let fact deter my narrative.
Bahn Mi is French influenced Vietnamese’s food, Americans probably imported it after losing the war.
