I didn't hear much mention of the money prizes that winners of blue riband events were to get. A lot of people deemed that contrary to the spirit of the Games.
Mind you I did have the sound off most of the time so I may have missed it.

The only reason why Australia win so many medals is because everything not human (& quite a few of those too) wants to kill you... so by extension, you naturally run faster, swim faster etc

Sorry McBain I did Binomial distribution for my Maths dissertation. And all these two lads have done is a fancy way of saying based upon the population distribution. Australia have the best results based on expected medals. Which is something that was already known and could be seen without any Maths.

I agree with the statistician David Frazier who later in the article critiques the method.
