Its strange though, why not have him as Maguires backup? He could always say that he thought it would be helpful for him to learn from Englands experienced captain.

I was going to say that this is a manager who takes three right-backs to every tournament because he's scared of upsetting Carragher, but it does seem as though Branthwaite is going now.

Looking at the other options, I don't see how he doesn't start.

Seems very lobsided for a squad!
With a squad of 26 that would equate to him only picking 8 defenders
Walker, Stones, Trippier, Shaw, Gomez, Guehi, Dunk & Konsa (Alexander Arnold......maybe, but he goes on all the graphics as a midfielder)

That's 1 left footed player (who's injured), 2 back up left backs who aren't actually left backs (Trippier,/Gomez)
Whats he picked Konsa as? A right back or a centre back?

He needed Guehi in there to fill his Palace quota he seems to need!
