6 + 2 Point Deductions

With clubs like Spurs and Chelsea facing potential sanctions, and Newcastle unable to compete, of course they were going to do this.

Without reading the article, I’d always suspected they would bring in essence a bond system, where you have to guarantee a pot of money.

If you can say here’s £500m to guarantee loses for say five years, they’ll let you use that much money. It’ll let the rich owners they want.

See that would actually be a relatively sensible rule change, if what they’re aiming for is sustainability.

Obviously doesn’t help competition, but in fairness the PSR rules were never claimed or intended to do that.

Spurs????
The general talk is that Spurs will be fine with PSR due to depreciating stadium costs, but they’ve recorded five consecutive loses.

They’ve lost nearly £90m this year; they’ve exceeded the £220m threshold in the three year cycle, and CL football is not guaranteed.

They’ll probably be okay, but you never know, and the PL will not want that risked, with Chelsea and other ‘top’ clubs too. It looks bad.

I've clocked out with it as it's become very clear they wing it. As the Fan Advisory Board said;

  • “We’ve now had 3 hearings, overseen by 3 different commissions, applying 3 different approaches, and reaching 3 different conclusions. In the last week, we’ve also seen the Premier League confirm that it will be looking to change the PSR rules as early as this summer.

My guess is 2 points.

We're told any breach is a points deduction, and I'm thinking they'll acknowledge existing penalty/period.

I do have a concern though it could become "we'll its a second breach that you didn't take steps to resolve" and hammer us more.

Feels pointless trying to apply logic/second guess it though as it's such a chaotic, agenda driven process.
I'd expect the 2 points also given the double jeopardy. However they have started something giving Forest a 2 point reduction. Unless they can justify otherwise, we should also be allowed that reduction.

They will be charged by the rules of when the offence took place.

Are we believing reports from the Daily Mail today?

lol

I'm sure they will mate...

It's just really complicated. Or something. Isn't it?

So it'll take another 10 years, by which - the consensus is "point deductions? we all agreed didn't we that just punishes fans. Remember?"

Stinks of retrospective diving suspensions this. Were we the only club punished in an era where rs players did it 5 or 6 times a match?

At the time salah and mane were the absolute kings of diving a few times in every game to gain pens. Not even a debate. And around the same time kane was at it every week. Never gona charge the RS or the england captain.

But there’s nothing in the rules, and never has been, that says any charge or any number of charges needs to result in points deduction.

They will be found guilty or innocent according to the rules at the time but the PL can vote in any sanctions regimes they like subsequently.
