2023/24 Sean Dyche

Because all we’re trying to do is score from set pieces. Maybe the manager should try and get the full backs up the pitch when we attack. And that could open space up for our forwards. We have 2 midfielders holding hands in front of our defence. Barkley is playing as a midfield 2 for Luton but is box to box. Ours arent allowed to
Move. Dyche has McNeil and Harrison as wing backs most of the time. We’ve been 1-0 down about 3 times this season and his first sub has been swap a full back with a full back, what’s that all about. He hasn’t a clue how to coach a team to attack.
Like we have no clue when we have the ball or we need to chase a game.

I’m not having that another manager wouldn’t get more out of our forwards

Barkley is box to box in a team that’s still below us on goal difference despite us having ten points removed.

Why would the full backs push up when they can’t cross a ball? Is the risk reward worth it? How many times are they going to be caught out vs how many times they might create a goal? Far more in my opinion. We have a CB in Tarkowski who is extremely slow as well as two slow full backs.

He hasn’t a clue how to coach a team to attack? He’s got a team with potentially one of the worst set of forwards in the league upto 12th. Calvert Lewin is missing almost a sitter every game, imagine a competent striker on the end of them?

We have no clue on the ball because we have about two players in the starting 11 who can actually pass or control a ball.

You really think if Dyche had City’s squad he’d be telling Rodri De Bruyne and Silva to sack off all the possession and passing, just get back in front of the defence and play for set pieces. Of course he wouldn’t.

Horses for courses. Fortunately Dyche is aware he has a set of donkeys rather than living in a dream world some Everton fans do where players like Doucoure Gueye Coleman Calvert Lewin Tarkowski Mykolenko are suddenly going to start playing possession based front foot attacking football putting premier league teams under sustained pressure home and away in a consistent manner. Sorry to disappoint, you can get Guardiola or De Zerbi in if you want, none of them are getting that out of these players end of story.

We play the most basic, boring football at times. Defensively dyche has done a great job but there's no excuse for having 0 pattern of play going forward. The tactic of pickford/tarkowski hoofing it up is already getting stale, he needs to allow the midfield to get on the ball more at home instead've relying on corners/set pieces so much.
It's not even that great job having players of Pickford, Branthwaite and Tarkowski's quality and playing with 4 centre backs actually.

You're completely right, in all of this.

Top and bottom of it is,; if we played open attacking football where are the goals coming from? Let's be generous and say Calvert-Lewin could get 12 goals, Doucoure 10 goals, Mcneil 7 goals, Harrison 7 goals after that you're scraping the barrel. There's not enough goals in the team. It's not even a new thing, we've had this issue for over 2 years now.

Haha you’re pathetic and clueless mate I give up with some of our fans. Answer me one question Do you think we have better footballers than Doncaster ???
So why did we just lump mid forward
Against them in cup and dyche screaming on the touch line to boot it long. While Doncaster passed the ball around us. Hes a one trick pony and will never change, horses for courses 🤣🤣🤣🤣

He’s an ale house manager. Always has and always will be, will never ever get a job as big as Everton again.

So in 10 yrs at Burnley he never thought to change buying donkeys and improve them
As a team??? He’s wasted 40mil on 2
Strikers that he never plays, he could have bought a pacy winger or a better player to play behind the striker. And how long have you watched football, is a full backs job only to cross a ball??? What about passing, what about linking with you wide player,
One,twos around the box. Movement to drag players out of position. That’s what most do. Patterson does it for Scotland,
Coleman has done it all his career,
maybe not the best technically,
But he’s always try to go forward and influence the team higher up the pitch. Young played plenty of times under Emery last season.

I am sure Mykolenko would contribute something in the attack, if he was allowed to join it more, despite not being Ronaldinho on the ball. Alli, Gomes, Harrison and Danjuma most securely won't be here next season. Won't be easy as the budget is small with maybe some Onana/Branthwaite money will help as well to bring in 3-4 players in the midfield/wing to give this squad more pace and creativity and players that can take a 1vs1 at times, as these attributes are missing in this squad. Dyche made us better at set pieces, defense and the team is working harder. It's an important improvement, but now it's also the task to get more variety in possession, as we are very one-dimensional in the build-up. Not all his fault since our players miss too much, but it's a thing to work on in the future.

Benitez was sacked for 1 win in 13 Dyche has 1 in 12 , surely in that case the pressure should be mounting on Dyche ?but the fan base seems to have a weird obsession with him for whatever reason

There is no obsession with Dyche at all. He gets rightly criticised for his poor decision making and gets rightly applauded for trying to glue the whole crap show together.

There's no one in charge to sack him

Benitez should have been sacked within 10 minutes of being appointed the useless gobshite.

Is that not what our DOF does - of coursd some like to blame the manager for everthing that they deem is wrong with the club.

I think clueless is looking at our team and the problems then claim we should be doing better. The history of this side, is hardly glorious.

I know, I know it was the managers. Even Ancelotti reign went downhill in the second half of the season. At least with this manager the players still put effort in, which they haven’t previously.

But here is the question, who would do better?
