6 + 2 Point Deductions

This charge gets a little bit of a different reaction from me. With the first one, there was anger at the league for the unfairness of the punishment, but there was also anger at the club for stupidly breaking the rules in the first place. We weren't blameless there.

But this time, it seems entirely likely that they're just trying to punish us twice for the same offense, in which case the club may have done nothing further wrong in the intervening period. So the anger should rightly be directed solely at the league and its spiraling corruption.

Given the first charge took so long to conclude because we sent them hundreds of pages of info in support of our mitigation, suggest we might want to send the PL hundreds of thousands of pages this time round.

So hang on, if we get another deduction then appeal we won't know the answer until 5 days after the league finishes? So we could have a situation where nobody knows if they're down on the final day or not? No chance the league will allow that. They'll want their final day drama for the telly.

We can’t have our hearing on the second charge until the appeal from the first since the outcome of that appeal feeds into the second charge. There’s no way all this is resolved before the end of the season, and if the PL is riding roughshod over legal principles this could easily go further to court. The only way to prevent absolute farce is for them to agree a settlement on a fair punishment for us and Forest.
That should always have been the way. It makes it just as open to bias to towards certain clubs and owners. But negotiated settlements would have been the way to have punishments applied quickly with no appeals.

Just like the “voluntary contributions” the scum made.

In fairness, ignoring the league's bizarre attempts to cripple Everton for a bit, the losses for 2022/23 must be pretty embarrassing if we've breached. I'm not sure how the club gets out of this cycle.

Because it's a valid argument when you are building a stadium with spiralling costs.

Ugh.

The interest bearing loans are specifically for working capital (as stated in the loan documents). No lender will ever be the first dollar in on a construction project.

Regardless, we can keep making the same arguments, and we'll keep getting the same answer. See you again next January when we do it again.
