The confidence after the points deduction baffled me.

Sure, we've had a great 6/7 weeks but we've been crap 3 years before that. If we repeat our average points per game the last 3 years we go down.

We've got a big fight on our hands. A iffy run of games until the new year ahead will be telling - don't underestimate the impact of pressure. If we are bottom 4 come Jan, it'll be a fight until May IMO.

We have to use it to unite the players and fans.

For quite a while the fans , club and board have been in conflict. This judgement has galvanished everyone.

I love angry Goodison. When Phil Neville crunched Ronaldo in the chest that turned the game and got the ground rocking.

Not sure mate. We couldnt cope with the pressure/expectation to win Vs Fulham, Luton, Wolves at Goodison. We've still had a poor start, results wise.

Sure we started to turn it around, but the pressure/demand to win in a relegation scrap presents a bigger challenge I think is underestimated.

Been very surprised how many people seem to think we'll just climb out of this. Mainly it seems due to all the worse teams around us. We're now 3 wins away from going above bournemouth and they've won 3 of their last 5.
We need to get something from that appeal.

How devastated would you be if you're Burnley though. One up v West Ham with five minutes left and they still lose. 7 straight home defeats, you simply don't stay up with home form as ridiculously bad as that.

If they'd hung on they'd be on 7 points with Sheffield United to come at home next weekend so suddenly that's their escape route. Instead very possible the loser of next weekend's match gets sacked as feels the sort of time in the season where a club will roll the dice just to get a short term boost.

They're not great but 15 points already is a decent buffer, Olise looked good today so he'll take over the creative void if Eze is out again for a spell.

Forest lost at home today for first time in ages so next week becomes more winnable, need to be taking 4 points from the next two really.
Forest without their main striker - a true hero last season - is not the same Forest.

If the "confidence" many displayed on here despite the unjust points penalty is not to be hubris, we need to be winning there. Doable without their main man.

And then you must factor in morale. Luton are now 5 up on us. We lose tomorrow and they’re thinking a few wins before the new year and they could be moving out of sight.

Two wins is a big enough ask for them, but I doubt we’ll get two more in 2023 looking at a fixture list of United, Forest away, Newcastle, Chelsea, Burnley away, Spurs, and Man City.

Opportunity knocks for Luton. We shouldn’t have to earn two more wins than them, of course, but that’s what this unjust penalty forces us into.
Agree with this. Hopefully an appeal, if they go that route, might see the sanction reduced.

And this and the energy if dictates/pressure it adds on is another reason why that point deduction was so bad.
I disagree with that point entirely. Teams that have pressure or expectations to win a match I feel perform better overall. Momentum is a powerful thing.

I think it is disappointing that's fans especially after only one team won think we are down with 26 games left. When the showings have been much better than in recent years.

Get behind the team and if we struggle and cut adrift then you have your answer but most fans think we have more than enough to survive COYB!!

Im not that bothered about sheff utd or burnley. Its luton and bournemouth that bother me. It shows how it can change as bournemouth looked terrible. But the two games they've lost in the last 5 have been against city and liverpool. And won the other 3. It could take 6 or 7 weeks to reel in bournemouth alone.

Nobody thinks we are down. People think we are in a fight - a bloody difficult one - and are not blase about the injustice of a 10-point deduction that vastly inflates our chances of being relegated.

We will fight to the end and we will fight for two more wins than, say, Luton - but the point is WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. We are being stitched up.

Champions thrive on pressure. Mid-table sides, hit or miss.

Luton et al have been under pressure for 2 months as they fall further behind. Didn’t help them play better. We are better, but not MILES better.

Also can’t discount the opposition. United have been slaughtered all season with ETH under huge pressure, and yet madly they are the form team in the PL. We can run around as much as we like trying dead hard, we have to show quality too. We showed better quality in games we lost. Spells of awfulness and silly mistakes even against Palace.

I just hope we reliably pick up draws in tough games and beat the dross, that should be enough to be safe in a few months and is doable. But we aren’t trampling everyone in our path between now and Xmas just because we are a bit vexed.

The weird thing about man utd is they have actually played terrible, got away with it in so many games, but ended up getting the wins, which obviously is all people care about. Man Utd if they come up against anyone half decent fall to bits - we just need to be half decent hopefully and not see us fall to bits

I think the most important thing tomorrow is to not lose and even if we only pick up 1 point it moves us into 18th.
3 points would be great but Man U are no mugs regardless of what the media make out.
Tomorrow calls for cool heads in what will be a supercharged atmosphere and not giving our rivals any hope by losing the game or silly suspensions due to red cards.
I am hoping we can get 4 points from our next 2 games which would be a good return.
This is going to be a grind for many months and we have to work on the basis that the 10 point deduction is not being rescinded and maintain a siege mentality to get out of the bottom 3.
