The Detectives - Taking Down an OCG ( organised crime group )

Three part fly on the wall, filmed over four years, as a special unit of Rochdale CID attempt to take out the gang that controls the drug trade in the whole of Rochdale.

A truly outstanding documentary. fascinating and frightening in equal measure.

The Police Officers and witnesses in this are proper heroes, as there’s nothing the gang won‘t stop at - serious threats to to the investigating officers and their families, jury interference, witness intimidation and kidnap.

BBC 2, but on catchup too.

Absolute must watch this.

How brave were them people throughout it ? They get a he'll of a lot of justifiable bad press the Police, But take your hat off to this team in their determination to rid society of scum like them.
Some very brave souls to hold their nerve despite the pressure and obvious life threatening position they were in.

Watched one a couple of years back set in Cheadle Hulme, it was not pretty, and the cops, fair fecks to em did a helluva job. It must be very difficult at the blades edge dealing with terrifying criminal scum.

Must watch this one , only 3 eps but each an hour long.
It's all on I player.

What I don't understand, more than anything, is how you can live among such a small collection of people in the middle of nowhere that you dislike/hate. Wouldn't you just move to somewhere else?

Also, it really drives home how ridiculously big Australia is, compared to the US even. I mean we have the middle of nowhere here, but it's nothing compared to the actual middle of nowhere that some places in Australia are

It's brilliant but depressing what's going on in out towns and cities. Rochdale suffered badly last few years with the drug and the sex gangs.

Brilliant. Almost as good as the book. Series 2 goes down hill, its often hard to translate King's work to the big screen

Yes people that stood up to them were very brave, I didn't realize that the bloke that got attacked with the axe had passed away

It was a real shocker to find that the lad who`d been attacked with the axe, had taken his life.

He was so brave in not giving into all the intimidation and bribes, that`s the sumbags were throwing at him pre trial and not that it matters, but came across as such a decent lad too.

Makes wonder why there isn`t a retrospective law, for victims who`ve developed mental illness and worse, as a result of the crimes committed against them.
