Because there's a decent chance that by sticking to the current terms, they are ensuring they receive nothing, rather than giving themselves a chance at (or even guaranteeing themselves) that £10m or some portion of it.

It doesn't seem that complicated?
But we won’t will we?

As much as we’d like to look at him we’re not going to spend more than treble the amount we’ve currently spent to rebuild our squad this summer on Deli with all the issues he’s been having.

We may see 3 or 4 appearances but he’s going to have to be unbelievable in that period for us to even think about spending anything on him.
Its 10m.

We will waste half of that on Andre Gomes wages for a season, its nothing money.

Spurs know that 10m is nothing, I see no reason why they should change the terms.

I maybe be wrong, but wouldn’t the cost of Dele transfer be accounted for in the books

He’s a current asset with a liability
What would be the cost accounted for, though?

Aren't there multiple triggers after different numbers of games played?

While there's a chance we don't pay a penny for him, or if we do it's one of several different figures, wouldn't it be difficult to account for that?

It's not nothing though. It's certainly not nothing to us (as evidenced by our spending or lack thereof) and while it's not nearly AS significant to Spurs, it's enough to cover about 10% of their entire wage bill, and therefore far from inconsequential

It be the full amount, surely, because that’s the financial liability. When I do my staffing costs I budget all my staff at the top of their pay grade, even though they are nowhere near hitting it.

I’d imagine every year those additional payments would need to be accounted for regardless of he plays or not

I think it is £10M for six or seven more games and the only money we have spent on the players who came in was the £3M loan fee for Danjuma, the other fees are not payable until the next financial year, maybe the Spurs chairman will wave the £10M due if Dele plays the seven games until the next financial year, maybe not. Would anyone bet that Dele recovers his best form and fitness and plays for Everton again?

Sounds like it might be more than £30 million, according to reports from the time.

Doesn't it seem unlikely that we've accounted for that much when we've paid nothing? That's an honest question - I find it dull and / or depressing to follow football finance closely enough to know much about these things.

So to sum up the story so far:

@dCahill17 is:
- A businessman who knows how to run a successful business with a balance sheet
- A scientist who can devise a more stringent test for footballers
- A shrink as he can determine the root cause of Dele Allis issues
In no way shape or form a gigantic wum out for a reaction, often off the back of sensitive or genuinely distressing topics.

The latest one being Dele's mental health and childhood trauma.

Trying to discredit the messenger and not the message 🥱 how about someone who uses evidence to make an argument? Not someone who repeats their echo chamber.

Scientist is the closest though 👍🏻

Don't forget somebody who equates DCL's modelling with child pornography. That one was fun for a bit too.

Not quite, it's £10m AFTER six or seven more games but that 10m is FOR another 20 games, then I'm pretty sure the position repeats again. It's completely unworkable without renegotiation.
