As much as most of us haven't it does bode well that we are actually getting to the point where we are trying to get these players and develop them to then sell on for good fees it's about time we actually ran properly.
The question is if Thelwell gets these deals over the line does he get credit as a lot don't have anything great to say about him
Buying players we shouldn't lose money on I'm all for - it's why I was happy with McNeil (and tbf, Maupay...) because their age/experience meant you shouldn't lose money.
But I read PSG paid £30m for the lad on an obligation to buy which happened in June. They mustn't fancy him now, and Newcastle haven't gone back for him (yet?) but either way, I think we'll have to pay a few bob for him either now or at some point so not sure he's a "money in the bank" player.
Valid point. But most of us have seen Maupy kick a ball, and not seeing potential new signings kick a football shouldn't mean we don't already know that they're better than him.
Each to their own mate, but I dont understand the fangurling over a player if you've never seen them kick a ball.
Reading posts like "KEVS COOKING, CHERMITI, EKITIKE WOW" - when they hadn't heard of either a week ago, nevermind seen them kick a ball.
It's not inevitable any transfer is better than what we have.
What is inevitable is we're in a relegations crap if we dont bring in goals.
Say what you want about Maupay - but there's an argument to be had about why he scored goals regularly before us. If we signed Maupay just after he was scored 25+ in the Championship at 21, or 10 Premier League league goals in his debut season at 23 for Potter's Brighton then we'd all be pretty thrilled. He's just not a number 9, and never in this team. Is Chermiti? is Ekitike? I reckon very few can answer because they've never seen either play so let's calm it eh.
