Word is Gyokeres has agreed to a five year deal with Sporting & is presently sorting out personal terms.

Disappointing if true.

I have read that; us, Burnley and Sporting are interested, it was reported that we had a bid rejected, but not how much it was. said that Sporting have offered 16m euros (£13.8m) with add ons and Coventry want £20m. So they are some way off.

We play Sporting in the pre season, nailed on he will bag a few goals that day if he signs for them.

….watched Gyokeres quite a bit last season because of our reported interest & I genuinely think he’ll struggle in the top flight. He’s hard working and genuine but he lacks the raw physicality and quality to trouble top flight defenders.

For the monies being quoted there has to be much better options abroad than the Coventry City lad.

i really hope the links to Gyokeres are wide of the mark.

I think he could do OK in the prem, but I think he is more likely a 10 to 12 goal a season striker at Premier league level, rather than a 20 to 30 goal striker. I think it depends on the deal, up to £20m is probably fine, in terms of cost and risk, but I dont think we should spend over that.

I say it every year and I’ll say it again:

Pretty much everyone in here is well aware that our financial situation is uncertain at best, and yet here we are again, with relentless cryarsing about no signings and it isn’t even July yet.

Every one of you sorry little meffs line yourselves up in The New Arena and I’ll play whack-a-mole with your noggins.

Rather have N'Diaye more to his game.
I think hes a good player, but I wouldn't want us to spend all the money on him. Not sure how much of the overall budget he would take up.
I dont think he can play as a central striker for us, or Target Man his strengths seem to be picking up the ball and running with it, or making runs into the box. He could play wide or as a second striker with a Target Man

There’s a lot of moaning about not signing anyone, then when we are linked with someone they moan that they are crap 🤣

His record pre Burnley was ridiculous. Signed for them and then Dyche was out the door not long afterwards.

12m is perfectly acceptable for him. His lack of goals for United would worry me of course but he played most weeks for them for a reason too.

I'm not saying we should sign him or anything but he is nowhere near as bad as people make out.
His time at Man Utd is why we shouldn't sign him. He won't get half as many chances here, his goal return isn't good enough in his two PL seasons. I have no doubt he'll do fine in a slower paced league, which is where I think he'll end up.

Please don't take relentless cryarsing from us...then we'd have nothing

I have never understood this 'needs Premier League experience' I think it is a load of BS, football is football, it depends on how good the coaching staff are in getting the footballer prepared for the EPL. Terms like 'the physicality of the Premier League' dont wash as anyone who has watched South American football will tell you that it makes the EPL players look like fairies. Brighton have signed countless players without 'Premier League experience' and with the over inflated prices of players that do have experience its bizarre why anyone would think it is a good idea. It just shows how poor our global scouting network is in comparison to a club like Brighton, it is embarrassing.
