TV Series

Visited my grandmother earlier today and she was watching The Gilmore Girls. Can someone explain why they all talk like complete weirdos desperately in need of sim Ritalin ? Within 15 minutes I was already wishing death on every character.
Hahaha Sorry m8, but I have to admit on this one that it is one of my so called 'Guilty Pleasures' I know I'll prob get banned for it.
but every now and then you just need one of those shows.
And Gilmore Girls is one of mine !!!

My wife binged this after our daughter was born and was busy nursing. I only watched enough to name her Right boob Rory and Left boob Lorelai.

I've really gotten into the two Maigret series they are running.

Shogun, US miniseries. The #2 rated behind Roots, over here. The actor is Damien Thomas, and he absolutely kills the role.

So much going on in that scene. I love how Alvito gives a letter-perfect translation, but sucks the life out of Toranaga. I love how Toranaga already knows Blackthorne's critical line, before Mariko's translation, just on Blackthorne's facial expression. No one but Toshiro Mifune can play Toranaga.

replying here as off topic in other thread -- is it a 'new' shogun series?

No, IIRC the miniseries came out in 1980. I recall watching it for the first time as a rerun with Dad years later, when I was a kid.

It has all the flaws of stuff of that era, but it's still killer. As long as you don't expect Chernobyl, it's great.
