Do we need a better scouting network?

...or whatever it's called these days. How can the likes of Brentford, Fulham, Brighton (okay I know they've got a great set up all round) do it? Why aren't we able to identify effective prospects in lower leagues, instead of wasting cash on experienced but below par PL players?

It's easy to say yes but we do quite often get linked with a few rando's (were even close on Caicedo at one point).

We might have a decent scouting network that is not assigned properly or their ideas are restricted etc. It's hard to say too much with little knowledge.

…we need a DoF who recognises the teams requirements and knows talent when he sees it.
I think we have scouted decent players Diaz ,kudus and we were linked with Jackson who looks like he might go to Chelsea but when it comes to the crunch financially we haven't been able to get them over the line ,a common problem brands and thelwell have had
And maybe leave the recruitment to the dof and the manager to a lesser extent

Scouting network is probably fine, we’ll more than likely have these players on some list

The issue is the direction of the football club. They have no plans in place in how to guide these players into the first team or how to develop them

It’s an utter mess

…we need a DoF who brings in players that meet the teams requirements. We need a DoF who recognises talent when he sees it. He generates contacts and goodwill globally.
Every single supporter could see we needed a target man last summer and then again in January, for a dof not to provide one and instead insist on signing Neal Maupey (Who has zero attributes to be a lone striker) was a move that made no football or financial sense.

Absolutely criminal that nothing was done, although after seeing the lump “Paul” we were linked with thankfully signing for Southampton and treating the football like a used syringe I’m glad he’s not on our books now!

Was it just me or was that Walsh fella from Leicester meant to be a super scout, found the likes of Mahrez and Kante, came here, found a quid down the back of Bills couch and blew it on gash

We need a properly structured networked scouting system. Anything is better than the present incumbents who, like a lot of other functionaries at our club, seem to do everything ad hoc .... and arse-ways.
