Noticed a lot of Tarmac being laid in the foreground now , thought this would have been one of the last jobs to do.

It will be temporary surfacing for something, lay-down area or additional site accommodation maybe.

Final surface for mostly everywhere will be a high quality natural stone, not asphalt.

Good point. Although that will just be a base to lay the original dock stones and rails and whatnot on top, which will presumably be last.

Always concerned me having the original cobblestones in a place full of half cut people, I wonder if there will be some kind of clear infill so people don't trip?
