That's just one possibility. Let's be fair, if Everton were 3 points off 4th you'd all be talking about it as your realistic aim.

We wouldn't, seriously. We'd be thunderstruck and absolutely delighted to be 5th, as we'd recognise we were overachieving.

We'd consider anything else a mad bonus.

I wouldn't be surprised if we came 5th or 6th because of the quality of the other 5 sides. But if you're chasing down sides and there's still only a 3 point gap after 20 fixtures between 6th and 4th, that's a pretty good indication that you can't be too far off in terms of quality.

You've spent shedloads of money though, and fell out of the Champions League spots.

You're right, you're not far off, but that's an absolute failure to be frank.

Tottenham have eased passed you, for example.

Now that's where the delusion come in! Nothing wrong with AIMING for 4th but it's a different thing altogether if you believe you have the quality to get there. Van Persie v Carroll LOL.

We fell out of the Champions League spots in a period in which we weren't spending lots of money compared to our nearest rivals. The fact that we lost 2 unbelievable players in Mascherano and Alonso and only brought in Meireles and Aquilani for proper fees up until the takeover ****ed us big time.

Let's remember ALL of the teams above you are in the CL or europa league. I remember kopites celebrating missing out on europe to concentrate on the league. It was your year again if I remember correctly.

Van Persie is worlds apart from Carroll, there's no doubting that. But I imagine that Reina, Enrique, Agger, Lucas and Suarez would all make that Arsenal side.

Spurs aren't in the Europa League. They went out in an awful group with minimum effort which sort of explains why our fans thought they'd dodged a bullet avoiding it.

The Toon are 4 points from 4th. They aren't going to get there either. It's Arse or Chelsea for me. Even if Spurs don't manage to stay in 3rd they will definitely get top 4.

The CL spots: will it make that much difference if Liverpool have their convicted racist out of for maybe four league matches? I'm not sure. He's been worked out on the pitch as well as off it.

No and no. He was a good manager for us because he won us a few trophies and ran us close in the league but his last season probably justified a sacking. In hindsight he was miles better than Hodgson though.

Roy Hodgson could have won you 4 league titles on the trot and he still would'nt have been liked at analfield as he is not Benny Dalgleish,,, the poor fella was on a loser from the start.
