I understand the logic of getting him up the pitch where he can perhaps force the opposition into making errors, but as a tactic it was always going to get found out sooner or later.

You can't hide from the ball forever.

Its tragic His positives on the pitch (high tempo coverage without the ball) are completely undermined and nullified by his glaring deficiencies when he has the ball. Perfect example last night was when he was able to intercept a Newcastle pass in their box and was facing minimal coverage, with tons of space to operate , while there was wide open players. What does he do? He blasts a wild erratic pass to the opposing defender who wasn't even near any of our players....if you're just going to spunk the ball away, the original interception doesn't matter and that's why I dont rate him despite his mobility

Im certain that if he had Onana and Garner behind him, he could be a box to box high energy press machine -- Iwobi as well.

Win the ball or cause errors then simply feed those two who can actually pass and move.

However, it isnt easy to forget his downing tools under Lampard.

Big game for him tomorrow. Ok i dont rate him. But he at least can have the odd game where if he's at it with his attitude he can be effective in digging out a result. Its not much, but we dont have that much.
He needs to be right in their face tomorrow and not be anonymous.
