We sold one player and signed what six? Four of which start every match and are upgrades on the players who finished the season in those positions.

It's an excuse and not a good one.
 
I’m very guilty of feeling like the situation has recently become hopeless but I want him to succeed so bad. If we had a successful manager I’d like it to be with a chap like a Frank. I thinks he’s a decent guy and maybe I’m getting so twitchy about it because I want him to succeed so much. I was willing us to lose to get rid of the FSW.

What he struggles at is breaking down average/poor teams and getting wins we need, much like Wolves. Personally, I put that down to crap forwards rather than bad tactics, but what you think the problem is there is up to you.

So because he can get two points from three against the big teams (which is selective anyway, soundly beaten by Spurs and United) it is fine that we can't beat anyone else?

Not sure I really follow that tbh.

People want to blame the forwards and talk about selling Richarlison but we scored 19 from 18 under him last season too. He's just not a good manager at setting up a team that can play on the front foot. Last season when he tried we conceded a ton so now he doesn't even try to play up the field or press most of the time and as a result we don't create anything or score. Yeah if you put world class talents we'd do better but that doesn't function as an excuse for me. He can still do his job.

So while the occasional unexpected point because we defend really well and nick a goal is cool in the moment we are still in a spot where we stink and the manager is bad.

Whilst I’m happy with the point today we are still two points worse off than where I hoped/expected us to be going into the Boxing day fixture so today has mitigated that loss a little. If today is how we have to get results he should treat all the opposition like Man City. Pragmatism over principal for the remainder of the season required. If we can grind out a few results doing that, we may just find the confidence and then the football evolves.

We did sign players, and we lost other players.

But selling our top scorer, while losing our other main goal source, when we were already a side who narrowly stayed up is indicative of a side that struggles.

In 94 and 98, when we narrowly survived the following season we also nearly went down.

So I'm not sure it's an excuse. It's actually just reading the historical context and applying it objectively.

Personally, I think he probably has to go, even though he has done some good things. But I honestly dont hold against him that we are struggling this season.

His big fault, has been not getting the best from the attacking players. There is ability in Gordon, Maupay and Gray and even to a degree McNeil.

Yes, but he needs help from that board.

The Simms recall is an utter pisstake.

Maupay does not suit our playing style as we need a big striker playing on his own, winning header and hold the ball up.

McNeil has no aggression, is weak and slow. I don’t see how he fits in. We better sell him to reinvest.

I said a week ago that if he has to go them we better have a better manager in the pipeline.

I dont see anyone better coming in here, just now tbh. If the likes of Pochettino were remotley possible, ok. But that's Fantasy Island stuff.

The better solution is to hand him a couple of attackers for the second half of the season and watch how that work's out.

I think the last two rounds of games where other clubs have cemented themselves into the relegation mess with us has at least given us some hope that we might just have time to do things and be a little more patient for a few weeks yet before making big decisions on the management front.

Absolutely but I was thinking about this earlier today, I don’t think there is one club in the PL that has all levels of management through to executive leadership that are seriously under performing from manager, to KT, BK, DBB and FM. It’s astonishing really and I would think quite unique? Usually accusations can be levelled at one or two people but not all.
