Honestly McCoist feels like he only ex player who calls it as excitedly and with the same amount of praise if it's attacking or defending/keeping
I genuinely really like listening to McCoist talk football. One of the best co-commentators and I’ve always thought that since he’s been on Amazon and done a few derby matches because he’s knowledgeable about both us and the RS and doesn’t just fawn about them, he talks us up too when we deserve it.

This isnt a dig, so please dont take it as 1.

But, when you were younger, did you play footy in the park? At school was every break just playing football for 15minutes?

I often wonder how the US do things, I mean do you even have playtime in the US or do you just run active shooter drills? (That was a dig).

Genuine question.

Haha...actually youth footie is quite well established in the USA. It remains a largely middle/upper class suburbanite sport, but is also making inroads into urban/inner city areas. There are different leagues from basic public leagues run by local cities, to "traveling leagues" (which cost a lot and involve parents shuttling kids several hours for games), and many high schools have teams, as do universities. But as to breaks during school (recess) it's not all gonna be pick-up footie, it will more likely be pick-up American football. The sport is highly regionalized as well: midwest and south is still dominated by baseball and football, basketball dominates urban areas, whereas the suburbs of most major cities will have lots of footie options. There are very few club academies like you have, and soccer isn't viewed as an entrenched part of American culture--that would be Taylor Swift and the NFL. Just my take.

Also, every game begins with the ceremonial active shooter duck-and-cover drill.

So? Did you watch it or are you just looking at a set of numbers yet again? England absolutely slammed the breaks on once it was game over, the last half an hour was a training exercise. If England wanted to score 6 and gas themselves out for the quarter final I’m sure they could’ve done.
I actually didn't watch the whole match, I did watch highlights and saying they should have scored 6 is a misunderstanding of how often shots go in.

So happy ITV brought him back (together with Champion, they vibe amazingly) for the WC again.

As you say - he praises/criticises every play equally and obviously instead of playing favourites.

His Russian facts last time out were amazing also lol
