Quarter Finals

Portugal v Argentina would be a very fitting final.

A glorious swansong for the two players that have illuminated the game globally for most of this century thus far.

Only one of them would play though. WC finals aint for swansongs for old players nearing their natural sell by date.

As an Irishman with no dog in this race, I find myself becoming that little bit more French as we approach the weekend. A certain je ne sais quoi seems to have taken hold.

Yeah, if we do what we did in the first half hour, against wales, and Senegal, ping it around at the back, esp with, the bad Harry playing about, we will be found out, we are better on the front foot. So we should ask them questions from the off attacking them. If we let them come at us, they will comfortably win.
I think the area England might do well in is midfield (assuming Rice isn't ruled out). The two coming in for Pogba and Kante for France have done ok so far. I just wonder whether they'll cope with Bellingham and Rice especially.

Up front though I'd take Dembele, Giroud and Mbappe all day over Saka, Kane and Foden.

They have only conceded 2 goals, and one of them was a 98th minute penalty. I dont think there is an obvious weak link in the England team, thats not to say they wont lose to France, but I doubt they will be battered.
It could be an excellent match.

There are periods in games though (USA and Senegal) where they look all at sea in that defence. Do it against France and it'll be punished ruthlessly.

Had their moments. Good job there is a very good keeper behind them. Thing is, for the first time I can recall, this England team poses as many questions to the oppo as they do to us.
