If our game plan really is to sit back and absorb pressure all game and hope to knock one on the counter, why don’t we hire a manager that specialises in that?

The criteria was not about playing style matching playing resources. It was about getting a "face". A face that could be used as a popular human shield. That strategy - whatever you think about it - worked like a charm.

Ratings (because the game was finished as soon as we conceded anyway):

Pickford - 5 - cannot get lobbed from there ffs. Taking far too long to get rid of it ball when it's in his possession too.
Coleman - 0 - nothing left to offer at all. A huge hindrance to the side.
Coady - 6 - did nothing wrong.
Tarkowski - 6 - did nothing wrong.
Mykolenko - 0 - terrible. Passing, crossing, control of the ball all wrong. Negative and cowardly in possession.
Gana - 4 - loose in possession and could have cost us yet again.
Iwobi - 5 - nothing really right or wrong. Just up against a much better player in Bruno.
Onana - 4 - stupidly killed an attack by feigning injury in first half. Looked off the pace all night.
Gray - 6 - good effort, little in terms of final ball, but worked hard.
Gordon - 0 - a disgraceful performance, diving, trying to get into fights with opposition, running ball out of play, passing ball directly out of play, the lot.
Lewin - 5 - didn't really do anything.
