If I were applying / approached it would go something like this

x million pounds a season, regardless of amount of games I'm employed for, paid upfront, sack me whenever you want. No refunds!

Just two changes. Saka and Walker out for Stones and Shaw.

I would be fuming if I were Spurs, Chelsea or City manager. Kane, James, Sterling, Grealish, Dier and Foden starting both of these pointless games.

Germany are likely to be obliging opponents for the sainted Gareth tonight. Living here in Berlin, I sense a distinct lack of excitement in the national team these days, a sort of casual disinterest mixed with complacency.

The truth is this Germany is not very effective. Sure, they have some nice technical players, but have no defender worth his salt and no attacker who can be relied on to hit the net. The World Cup will be a struggle for this group - and they'll be amazed when they are turfed out either in the group or the second round. They're sleepwalking in a not-too-dissimilar manner to what happened at the last two tournaments. If anything, a heavy defeat tonight might be for the best.

Thomas Hitzlsperger is on Channel 4 because he's German yeah? Nothing to do with him being gay?

This modern "trying too hard" mentality is painfully cringe worthy.

Yes, he came out in 2003 but they thought they'd roll him out 9 years later to make a point.

Not the fact he's an ex-PL player, ex-German national player & also is in German media fairly often.

He's on because he's German and speaks English from his time in England and is a recognisable face, no? I mean, he'd be high enough on any list of token German guests for a match like this. The Queen is no longer available, like.

I don't see the issue. He was a good player. Played for the national team and spent many seasons playing in the Premier League.

Don't know what he is like as a pundit but that bar is pretty low.
