Summer 2024 transfer thread.

We will be removing the following from our central midfield:

Onana
Gomes
Ali

I think replacing them with the likes of Ndidi and Barkley on free transfers would significantly strengthen our central midfield and add much needed creativity, whilst also making a considerable wage saving.

Agreed, despite what Barkley did, having him in the midfield I'd feel much more confident of playing through the midfield.

Still think even if we did sign those two, not sure how effective they'd be while we had no pace up top still.

I dont think we'd miss any of them to be honest, assuming we'd be able to bring in players for those positions.

I hope Thelwell has a plan and knows what hes doing this summer. A very massive summer with how many players wont be here next season.

Keep an eye on Hamer at Sheff Utd at the weekend. I think they paid £15m for him from Coventry last year so not out of our range and his wage is unlikely to be high at Sheffield. 4 goals and 6 assists is not bad in a struggling side. Could be a lot less in transfer fee and wages that we'd have to pay for Harrison who hasn't impressed me this year - far too predictable in cutting back on his left foot all the time.

I can see extensions for Gueye for sure and maybe Coleman and Young as well.

Simply because the squad is so tiny already we cannot afford to reduce it further.
Our outfield squad next season could be just 14 players if we release everybody out of contract while also keeping Branthwaite, Onana ans DCL which is unlikely.

Patterson
Tarkowski
Branthwaite
Godfrey
Keane
Mykolenko
Onana
Garner
Doucoure
McNeill
Beto
Chermiti
DCL
Dobbin.

We would need to add six players to the squad which sounds a lot with no money to spend.

I think Mills and Campbell may also be brought into the squad which would certainly help but not sure about anybody else.

He's on £90,000 a week apparently at the moment. If we sign him on a free he'd want a signing on fee and more than £90,000 a week. We can only be giving those sort of contracts to top class players.
I think their was no loan fee to Leeds which would have paid a substantial portion of his wages.

He was a more than useful squad member being involved in nearly every game since he regained fitness after arriving and if the same deal were available I think it would be well worthwhile but other than that I don't think we will see him back with us.

However, on a more general point I think we have to accept that all Premiership players are on high wages, if you want to sign them or want to keep them.

Our problem was we kept changing managers and kept signing players for each new manager for big fees and bigger wages.

It is the wages more than anything, as well as agent fees, signing on fees and compensation for sacked managers that has really screwed us.

The average net cost of player purchases minus player sales over the last number of years is not that high.

Still be atleast 20 mill or more will prob want him for next season
I'd take Harrison on a free. No way we should be paying anything close to Leeds' valuation even if we were loaded.
Could be anothet loan if leeds dont come uo

We'd miss Gueye and Harrison definitely they aren't amazing but they are important first team players for us.

He hasn't impressed me at all tbh for Sheffield Utd.

I think we do, 8 players, id be stunned if we bring in 8 players. Only really Dele and Longerman didn't contribute to the first team.
