Southampton out-tackled Spurs 28-20, they out-tackled Newcastle 25-14, and tackles were even in their game v City before Jay Rodriguez suffered a serious injury...they go on to lose 19-10.

Cardiff and Villa then make more tackles than them in the games after Rodriguez's injury.

As a psychology graduate, I find this sort of phenomenon after a serious injury very interesting. It suggests hesitation. a lack of commitment in an individual (in this case a group of individuals). Southampton cannot get into Europe, they cannot be relegated, but they do have several players who have a decent shout of going to the World Cup.

If we turn up on Saturday and show that we are committed, especially through our tackling, the current mental frailness of Southampton will be there for all to see. Keep an eye on the 50/50's this weekend.

I fancy McCarthy to get his first for us tomorrow. Can't remember too many players having played in Royal blue so deserving of a goal.

0-2. Up the Toffees!

Tough game, but an Everton win. Back line worries me a bit.

McGeady, though. He'll get some good work in this. We'll add two to our goal diff, I think.

Maybe McCarthy will finally score.

I hope that was a Freudian slip.

Hoping that Duncan Ferguson can get inside Seamus Coleman’s head some more – the boss mad slack mouthed [Poor language removed] – as if he does then we have the soundest right back known to man playing for us.

It's this:

Boss words Chico la! I would of posted earlier but I've been in the garage for 3 hours trying to find me old porn.

What I love about the new Everton under Martinez is when we go one up we don't just sit back we go for the 2nd. I can almost imagine Roberto screaming 'Finish 'em!!!' from the sidelines (in his boss shoes)

I predict a tight game for 30 mins then a cheeky free kick from Bainsey resulting in us going on to take the pish.

0-3 to the sexy blues and a few nervous gooners monday night please lad

Actually when I referred to the south coast as splendid I really meant a stinking pit hole of failed Polytechnics, jarg tattoed nugget locals and as much local culture as a 70s council bus stop. But more of that in a bit.

Made me laugh out loud which attracted the attention of an ex-army lad I'm currently sharing an office with. @chicoazul - having read the preview, he thinks you're funny but nuts btw. "Care in the community" I said, and the community is Everton.

It'll be a better game than last year ( could it be worse ? ) and we'll smash 'em 3-1.
