6 + 2 Point Deductions

Exactly this.

I'm not sure what's worse, a PL that is interested in making itself more money, or an "independent" regulator, closer to the government, making decisions based upon geopolitics.

Make no mistake, the change in regulation is not a guarantee of improvement, it just gives other people chances of making money.
They already make decisions based on geopolitics, Newcastle and Saudis being one.
It makes sense on some level for the government to want to regulate the country's number one export doesn't it?

I'm sure there are good arguments against it, and regulators aren't above a risk of corruption themselves, but all I know is without it we got docked ten points for a sum some clubs blow their nose on, so I'm all in for the regulator, even if it only rattles the cages of the corrupt ones already running it.

Finally caught up lol

Nevermind other football fans (Wolves fans get it), don't think some of our fans get it. The 10 points is wrong, the whole charade was wrong. The punishment itself was on a scale that was totally disproportionate, as analogies go it's like doing 33 MPH in a 30 zone and the punishment is being jailed for life.

But actually it's more than that. It's the premise that the Premier League have acted poorly and without integrity and fairness, (ironically the kind of accusation they've made towards Everton). It's clear Everton have been used as a pawn, as a guinea pig, so that the Premier League can bat away the need for an independent regulator. That's just my take.

Andy Burnham, not just an Evertonian, or politician, but as a former Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport, has, just a little, understanding of these matters, and he's posted his take on this and made it glaringly obvious the whole process is flawed. Everyone out there sticking the knife in to Everton, you cheated, you broke the rules, you're lucky it's only 10 points. No Everton didn't cheat, they made a pigs ear of it but Christ we know that. Sack the board we said!

This has to be stripped right back, punishment thrown out. Hopefully the Independent Regulator will have something to say about the Premier League in the near future. The PL made a big mistake taking on Everton, like the pot calling the kettle black.
if a prosecution authority doesntcomply with the rules when prosecuting a case, any resulting conviction is unsafe. Any abuse of process means our case should be thrown out.

Exactly

Just another bunch of pigs that want to get their snouts in the trough.

I don’t know who was responsible on our side for coming up with some of the excuses we used in the initial hearing, but those people should not be allowed anywhere near our preparations for the appeal

I thought the stuff about Sigurdsson was o.k. Ultimately he was questioned and arrested and club went by protocol and suspended him. Perhaps it didn't seem logical to offer him a deal but plenty of teams do that and then the player leave six months- a year later regardless. Don't think anyone expected the investigation to go on as long as it did without him being charged.

Richarlison was a bit optimistic though to argue could've got 80m for him. 60m was a good fee and he's certainly looked nowhere near that at Spurs. Should've just emphasised selling him before 1st July to comply with the strict regulations.

I expect 4 points back. Who knows what the situation will be whenever they return. It's going to be a very hard slog to stay up now without them, I'm in the @davek I'm afraid as lose at Forest and reality will really set in.

You can't underestimate the psychological blow of losing 10 points and immediately being cut adrift by 5 points. This is yet another thing to deal with after 3 years of draining relegation fights.

You can say you've been galvanised but life isn't as simple as that, and footballers are humans and can't not be effected. We struggled with the occassion and the pressure, and getting hit by a sucker punch obviously makes it twice as hard. We would only find out how we've been effected once we played, and it was always more likely to negatively effect us rather than give us a boost. Who performs better in their job when the stress and pressure gets far more intense? It's not how these things work.

It doesn't get easier either. We have to find a way to deal with the pressure because it doesn't go away, but it's not going to be easy.

This is much more than just 10 points. It's something that could easily derail the club and leave everyone completely demoralised. Not to mention the huge boost it gives to our rivals. It's not something we can cope with and we need at least some points back

What really irks me is this club is 145 years old. Its a founding member of English football. Its forgot more about tradition and values than this greedy little grubby fingered league will ever know. We bought into it. We voted into it. But over its short history its become a nasty little money is our God tyrant. Derail the club is right. A club that has been a cornerstone of English football. that stood own its own two feet way before the premier league and its P&S punishments. Whacked by an independent panel chosen by them themselves that has all the hallmarks of a kangaroo court. They've set up this league now that clubs can no longer try and improve without the risk of being penalised. Have hoodwinked fans into falling over themselves with joy finishing 9th instead of 12th because its a few extra million. Knowing full well their imposed restrictions make it virtually impossible to ever truely contest anything other than making up the numbers.
Everton have made errors. But for these greasy corrupt c**** to be trying to grind this club into the dirt for it. Id quite happily bin this league off. I hope we become a right pain in the arse to them

Well done to the Wolves fans who sang against the PL tonight

More clubs should. Too many clubs are happy to make up the numbers in a league that caters to a minority of clubs. Unfortunately it’s every man for themselves. I hope we don’t forget the clubs that are circling us like sharks trying to put us out of business whilst we are on our knees.

The one with the transfer levy was pretty dumb IMO, and going on about suing Gylfi too
