6 + 2 Point Deductions

In the wisdom of the PL, the fact that Everton gained no sporting advantage was irrelevant.

Interesting point made by Keiran Maguire on TalkS**** earlier. By all accounts the PL reckoned that Everton should not have climbed into bed with anyone expressing Russian interests knowing the situation in Ukraine as it has been since 2014 and that we really ought to have taken active steps to extricate ourselves from the agreement prior to the full blown invasion in 2022...like we knew this was going down!

This from the same body who until then were happily taking £millions from Russian broadcasters for TV rights until sanctions kicked in and gave them no option but to pull the plug in May 2022, three months AFTER the full invasion.

At best, stones and glass houses spring to mind. At worse, corrupt logic and their own self-preservation.

Yeah cuz Chelsea wuz innocent and Roman is obviously not tied to Russia in any way, all the Arab/Dubai countries are obviously not a sportswashing campaign funneling insane amounts of money for infrastructure that doesn't even get on their accounts, and so on and so on.

What a nonsensical point.

Usmanov/Moshiri were on the Arsenal board up until they joined us, were they as bad then?

The main point for me from the review is the suggestion from the PL not to use Nottingham Forest decision as a Benchmark. It's an admission of flaws in that ruling.

This IC tries to avoid using a mathematical approach to deductions but states it has to by following our first appeal. One point per 6.5m on top of the baseline of three points, hence us starting at 5 points for a £16.6m breach. It is a matter of agreed fact Nottingham Forest breached by £34m and therefore their starting point should be 8 points. Even if we agree we only deserve one point for Ukraine and Co-operation and Forest genuinely do deserve two, they should still have gotten a SIX point penalty.

This is really where we need to focus the appeal on. Two commissions for Everton have used a basis of one point per £6.5m breach, and Forest's have used another basis entirely. Absolutely do not buy the argument we deserve double the sanction, in comparison, because it's two breaches. Either they are using some sort of benchmark for points or they're not. This would allow clubs to basically max their losses in one year and receive a more generous sanction.

That's incredibly mendacious. What's Newcastle's excuse for climbing into bed with a Saudi Arabian dictator committing war crimes in Yemen and dismembering people in Turkish consulates?

Oh, they don't need one, I see. Boris said it was fine.
