In a perfect world.Yes but there will always be the situations that befell Wimbledon,Coventry etc When I started watching football Southport were a league side. It's just the way the game has progressed.Darwins hand is in everything.
I'd rather tell QPR and Blackburn.Someone needs to tell Man City and Chelsea.....quick
True but it's only really rich if your prepared to spend, and spend big, those two (and a few others.....Cardiff!) are just playing at being richI'd rather tell QPR and Blackburn.
QPR, Cardiff, and Blackburn have all spent more than Everton.True but it's only really rich if your prepared to spend, and spend big, those two (and a few others.....Cardiff!) are just playing at being rich![]()
I can see your point but I honestly believe in the long run the standard of the game would rise with B teams in the League system.Teams like Rochdale would raise their game playing Man United B in a way they never would playing Scunthorpe. And the increase in gate money would help keep teams afloat. But then it is all about opinion.I can remember the buzz around town when my local team Gandia played what was nearly a Barca B in the Copa, and if they had the chance to play weekly against La Liga B sides they'd jump at the chance. They're still here all of them. TBH I'd rather Everton fold than [Poor language removed] on every other club like Barca and Madrid do. It's not what this club was built on and it'd stop me supporting them.
Correct over the short term but time will tell,if Bill keeps his wallet shut (as per normal) who knows what the future might hold.QPR, Cardiff, and Blackburn have all spent more than Everton.
Must be better clubs.
You can say that of anything.Correct over the short term but time will tell,if Bill keeps his wallet shut (as per normal) who knows what the future might hold.
i'd love to see any correlation between less english players in premiership teams the and national team being less successful(here or abroad), its just nonsense bordering on xenophobia..makes me go mad!
The mad thing is that there is a correlation - since the Premier League was brought in, the % of English players amongst the top flight has decreased year on year, and the performance of the national team has got worse. The problem is that the FA do not think that a problem created and sustained by the Premier League should be dealt with at the Premier League level.
I'd rather see a return to the proper reserve leagues instead, but say 5 players must be u21, 5 over and the keeper can be whatever the club wanted.
I'd also like to see an incremental wage cap introduced for all players under the age of 23 that would increase based on age, appearances for the clubs first team and any full international caps they have earned.
Also I feel that he clubs are too soft on academy players these days. I'm not advocating a full return to the days of YTS slaves that encouraged bullying by senior members of teams. But the kids should definitely be involved with cleaning kit and boots, changing rooms etc. Its a good way of grounding young egos that are probably getting told from a very early age that they're going to become his great player.
has this all definitely stopped?
And there you have it.Possibly the future of the Football League. The game always moves forwards and these days money calls the tune.I can remember the arguments in the pub about if having more than one sub would ruin the game.Anyway it was a cheap shot using Everton to make your point,I think most of the teams in the Championship spent more than us.We are after all a special case! You can say that of anything.
In the 80's we were top of the world. In the 90's we were awful. Not long ago Swansea were in League 2. This year they were in Europe.
It's the beauty of the English League system. Anyone can rise up with a good manager and a good chairman and a bit of luck. This just gives the richest teams more of an excuse to buy anything resembling talent and kill off all the clubs that haven't made it big yet.
Next step is the elimination of promotion and relegation. So the lower leagues can be minor leagues for talent development.
