2023/24 Sean Dyche

The utter chaos in the boardroom and the revolving door of managers are definitely huge issues. On the other hand keeping managers on just for the sake of stability itself isn't any better. Our problems have stemmed from making the wrong decisions in the first place. The only sacking I could really criticise is the Silva sacking, maybe Allardyce, the rest deserved to be sacked in all honesty and most of them should never have been appointed.
True
I get why people don't want Dyche sacked, he won't be anyway, there's nobody there with the authority to sack him and no money to pay him and his staff off, but with every poor performance and every game that goes by without a win makes the argument that he's the guy to turn it around weaker.
aand true again
Barring a very large second points deduction there's a very good chance we scrape together just enough points to stay up. Some people believe that if we do that then Dyche will have worked some sort of miracle. I don't. Finishing 6 points ahead of Luton won't be a miracle at all.
Possibly true
What I then worry about is next year, with a thinner squad and likely one or more major sales. Will Dyche be the guy then? I'm sure plenty of people will say so, but against better opposition (Leicester, Leeds, maybe Southampton are not Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton) I struggle to see how this manager improves or even maintains our position. Who has he improved in our team? Mykolenko, yes, Doucoure, for a while,

yes, currently it's hard to argue that he's not gone backwards,
At best he's stood still....which is the same as going backwards

Who else?

If the choices are seemingly unimaginative stick in the mud Vs 'Change' any change

Does it matter who.?

Can't get away from the fact the thing that kept me on the dyche train was he was getting results. They have dried up so those credits are declining.

I still think the team are creating some chances, it is a threadbare squad in terms of talent and numbers, going through a pretty taxing period with all the off-field noise it's a tough situation.

It does seem the air went out of the place with that loss on penalties to Fulham in the LC. I d

As my boss always asks me, what the solution.

I'd love more attractive football, but with this squad, Lampard tried that and was found wanting.

For all the crap Chelsea deservedly get they had a squad that should be comfortably in the Champs League spots yet Potter and Pochettino can't get them going what makes you think they'll be affective for us.

I guess my point is Dyche overall has been solid up against some pretty massive obstacles, I wouldn't be changing him. I think he's the guy to get the best out of this lot, but our biggest issues are the uncertainty of our future including investment and PSR. As it stands now even if we get money in will we be able to use any of it to improve this squad.

I dont mind holding him to improved standards and expectations when the inputs make it reasonable to do so at the moment I dont think its fair to have his position in threat with what hes up against.

The dyche fan boys have gone from saying for the last 3 months, look at the stats, the metrics the Xg. It will turn.

To now saying, there’s nobody to sack him, we can’t afford to sack him and who would come to us

As one of the fanboys I'm more just in disbelief how we've conspired to throw away points. The manager isn't blameless, he needs to improve things and get people firing again. But at the same time, I more blame the players as the setup has put in a good position to score and win games but they just aren't making the most of it.

Part of me just thinks the manager debate is completely pointless right now. Untill new owners come in, Dyche's job at Everton is very secure. Obviously people have a right to their opinion, but I wish people would channel the energy they waste slagging off the manager to just try and back the team, who are very much in the eye of a sh!storm.

They’ve also gone from “We’re actually 11th to 12th, 13th, 14th”.
Which at the start of the season even before the point penalties we probably would have taken.

I don't think we should underestimate the effect the PSR and ownership has had on this year.

I just don't think there's a guarantee anyone would do better, but we are still on track for survival which is the goal (unfortunatley).

I disagree it’s the only thing he’s good at though. Sure we all want us to win but I just want us to stay up now. If we go 1 up in a game I don’t care what minute it is I feel like we should defend that lead and play for the 1-0 win.
Have you seen our defending from corners?

Again as a fan boy you’re blinkered, and to question the fans is scandalous

Also there’s a Narrative we create loads of chances every game, which is not the case, Fulham , Palace and Bournemouth have won at Utd all had loads of shots, West Ham did to, the Utd keeper didn’t make a save of note, palace was a shocking performance and they created better chances than us, same at Fulham, they dominated the game, Brighton we didn’t create much.

Hes sets up negatively and can’t drop his favourites, never changes the style, we never win from behind.
His job isn’t very secure imo, what if we lose the next 2 and don’t beat Burnley, someone at the club would have to make a decision, because he would have lost the majority of the fan base by then.

I think Dyche is just managing a threadbare squad in very difficult times, not like he has had the chance to come on and rip the squad apart and start again.
The team he inherited had near got relegated two seasons on the run had lost some of its better players up front and its no wonder we have suffered.
He is too rigid in his tactics for my liking ,and is playing a system that has been well found out in the prem, simple hit the wide area's , as we are narrow defensive wise and just overload the fullback when he comes out to stop the danger .
A simple switch of play is all you need and we are in danger.
Needs to tell pickford to help out at crosses into the box as well from corners.
He is losing the fans, the players are not responding to him by the looks of it and it's a worrying time to be an Everton fan.
He isn't getting sacked because there isn't anyone to do it and we more than likely can't afford to.
I have supported him up until the last few weeks , but can't see a reason to carry on doing so , results are crap , football is dire, and I am expecting to get beat everytime we go on the pitch no matter who we play.
It's up to him to turn that around, can he ?
I honestly don't know. Starting to doubt it.

Christ, yes, I’ve seen it all. We are crap I get that but you can’t just blame it all on the manager. Until someone stays for a long time, is allowed to build and strengthen the squad then we are constantly going to go on this merry go around of managers. We all want success but I’m bored of starting again every 2 years and having it all end the same way, every single time.

That corner stat does not sound correct, but I agree with your conclusion.

Why? We're 4th in goals conceded this season. 3rd in most clean sheets.
The mad thing is you would think we are camped in our own half with that. But are 3rd in big chances missed. Now i know who determines whats a big chance.
Dyche has to fully own no win in 11 but the teams not all over the place. It just simply cant convert. And footys still a simple game in terms of you cant win if you dont score.

Why doesn't Thelwell get an attacking coach in? He's the boss isn't he?

This situation is the opposite of the Martinez days when we could score but couldn't defend to save our lives. Remember back than a lot were calling for someone like Stubbs to be brought in.

Not sure who is about but it would certainly help now. Any recently retired top strikers about? Probably beneath Rooney but someone like him would be ideal.

Might actually be a good thing to have a different voice about the place.
It all very stale at the moment the players are not responding to the current setup.
The players form is going backwards at the moment with maybe. Braithwaite and Pickford being the only exceptions.
Anything is worth a try.
