Liverpool council threaten legal action over Merseyside derby

Merseyside police praised both sets of fans for their 'impeccable behaviour back in September:

'Match commander, Chief Superintendent Carl Krueger, said: “The vast majority of fans, both home and away, behaved impeccably and enjoyed the occasion for what it is – a highly-competitive football match between two passionate clubs and their supporters.'

Something doesn't add up here, because the only difference is the proposed 5:30 game will be at Goodison.

Let me see...

The council are going to put in a legal order, because the match kicks off at 5:30, so all the people coming from outside Liverpool, have to spend more time in the city, fans have to spend more time drinking.... in the city before the game, generating more money as a result.

Yeah..... nice one.

“In addition such a kick-off time affords those wishing to engage in criminal activity, either disorder or otherwise, the protection of darkness. This makes disruption and prevention more challenging, and therefore increases overall risk this fixture poses.”

Ballix, sure all night matches should be banned if that was the case and all other matches moved to summer football.

They should have the game at 7.30 on a Saturday. No-one would drink that much beforehand for fear of not being let in, or being too drunk to focus, and the game would finish approx. 10pm leaving not that much time for post-match pub-fights.

Sorted!

So let's impose a worldwide curfew at sundown then if that's the case. FFS

Wonder would we be discussing this if it was at Analfield? I imagine someone over there has had a quiet word in some councillors ear as the atmosphere would be well in our favour at night...

Not sure if serious.

Ridiculous by the way, the game last year at Anfield was a night time kick off and there were 3 in 2009 ffs.

Last season's game was scheduled on a midweek round so it wasn't possible to change it.

I guess it's because the police would be stretched with it being a Saturday night
