I think this is as good an Everton side as I have played in. The last time we were at this level was when we went on to reach the FA Cup final in 2009

Does anybody else disagree with this notion?

2008/09 was a great season with the cup run and the 5th place finish. Particuarly in light of the desperate summer that proceeded it and the horrendous injury list.

But that season was surely more noted for scrapping victories against the odds, with Cahill often being forced to play unfront by himself and Fellaini playing in an advanced role while still adapting to the premier Leaue. Not forgetting the early exit from Europe

Further, the quality of the squad was such that many suggested that the squad the previous year was in fact better.

Perhaps in terms of form we can hope for a season like 08/09 but surely results, performances and style are more akin to the strong end to the 2009/10 season?

To be fair the injuries kicked in mostly for the second half of that season and we were superb before that, we were playing teams off the park home and away.

You're thinking of the year before. The FA cup final year we were miles behind the pack then did our traditional late season charge up the table to catch a Villa side who thought they were nailed on for 4th and ended up 6th.
