sort of old news but didn't see a thread. basically it's the ballon d'or for players aged 21 and under. Stones nominated, as well as Sterling, Chambers, Shaw and Dier. Strangely though no Ross or Lukaku??

Five English players are on the 40-strong shortlist to be crowned as Europe’s best young player.

While Gareth Bale was the only British player to make Fifa’s 23-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or award this week, the nominations for this year’s prestigious Golden Boy award, which was first established by the Italian newspaper Tuttosport, features Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, Calum Chambers of Arsenal, Luke Shaw of Manchester United, Everton’s John Stones and Eric Dier of Tottenham.

A whole host of Premier League-based players have also made the shortlist including the Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic and Manchester United forward Adnan Januzaj.

The award, open to any players aged 21 and under, is voted for by journalists from 30 newspapers around the world and Wayne Rooney remains the only English winner after picking up the prize in 2004. The France and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is the holder having finished just ahead of Everton’s Romelu Lukaku last year.

Other previous winners include Lionel Messi (2005), Sergio Agüero (2007) and Mario Götze (2011).

The full shortlist:
Premier League Calum Chambers (Arsenal), Kurt Zouma (Chelsea), John Stones (Everton), Raheem Sterling, Lazar Markovic, Divock Origi (Liverpool), Adnan Januzaj, Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Nabil Bentaleb, Eric Dier (Tottenham).

Hmm. Not sure I'd want to be known as the "Golden Boy" ....... sort of homo erotic IMO

But the list of Prem players is very uninspiring with only Sterling (from last season) & Stones worthy. Chambers maybe on early season but has fallen away as has Dier. I am assuming that Markovic & Origi are listed from last season too as both are gash

Shaws a strange one as is chambers and dier

Quite a few players on that list have only played a handful of times.
Amazed that Lukaku isnt on there considering hes played more games, scored more goals than anyone on that list

Great that he's on the list, but his injury's probably put paid to any chance he had of winning :(

Divock Origi ?

5 goals in 30 league appearances in the french league. If he had signed with Burnley he wouldn't be on that list.

No Iker Muniain ? How can the likes of Sandro and Munir be on that list after only playing so few games, yet Iker Muniain is not.

Again another case of showcasing talents from the so called bigger names. Its a farce.
