Everton Youth Teams Thread

It's a strange one with Warrington, Lampard seemed to like him, Dyche seems to like him, clearly a great attitude.... but no one, not even Plymouth, seems to want to actually put him on a football pitch.

Tbf both his previous loans before Plymouth went well.
Maybe he just didn't settle down there, or maybe just won't be able to play to that level.
it's not like he was even given any game time to prove anything either way on the pitch.

As he’s 16 ( Lukjanciks) he’s either signed a Scholarship already or is holding out to become a “ free agent “ end of July in which case we get the development fee the Tribunal decide on, peanuts really. City are often generous in the pursuit of young players but not £10 mill generous. It’s good he’s starting today , and with Pickford on the bench having signed a pro contract it hopefully means we have two good young GKs prepared to fight it out over the coming years .
They have had a young lad on trail for the last few weeks trying to earn a scolarship, keeper 16 yrs old lives Bolton way.

It seems to me to be a Championship thing. It’s such a competitive league that teams are either trying to get into the play offs or avoiding a relegation battle and managers are under so much pressure they rarely give on-loan youngsters a good run. Recently Gordon and Virginia had poor loans there, and at one time we had 4 or 5 there with the likes of Joe Williams , Callum Connolly and Kieran Dowell . Dowell had the best loan with a purple patch at Forest then faded when they changed their manager. Simms had success at Sunderland but after playing in League 1 with Blackpool ( then Hearts) first. On the other hand, Dobbin had a successful League 1 loan last season which has helped him.
All just musing on my part, in the end it comes down to the player and I agree with your point for Warrington of “ maybe just won’t be able to play at that level”

Our u16 midfielder Luis Gardner is in the Wales u17 squad for the upcoming UEFA U17 Championship . As his 16 th birthday was in January he’ll still be eligible at u17 next year. Gardner started for our u18s against Man U in the 3-1 defeat the other week.
There are no Everton players in the England squad , and the two GKs are Brits and Whatmuf both of Man City - reference to recent speculation that City are somehow going to pay £10mill for Doug Lukjanciks.
