I think this game is more so literally getting the players that are going to be in the first team fitness as you said. Hence why Besic and barkley will get more game time than some others.. because it's more important they get it.

Then later on after sixty minutes we'll see some youth come on.

Never mind. Crawley played them a few years ago pre-season the day after they'd played. They used the same players and got beat 3-0.
