Transfer Rumour Che Adams

The biggest downside appears to be his scoring record.
Agreed. He got 5 for Southampton, if he can get us that and a bit more he will be worth the £12mill. If we could afford a 20 per year striker, I guess we wouldn’t be going for him right now. Is what it is

His goalscoring record at Southampton is poor but we haven't had a striker who can play a similar role to DCL in 2 seasons so he does improve us. Just another example of how poor recruitment has been.

Whatever...

I think most of us are angry that we bid now, if Adams was always a target why only get him now? He could have had a preseason

That fact that we have only bid now means he is obviously plan B or even Plan C or D. We have failed
He is more likely plan F all else available

I could understand the club keeping Maupay if they aren't able to bring a new striker in.

But to bring in a similarly crap striker AND keep Maupay would be utterly horrific.

The drop off from a fully fit DCL to either of the other two of massive, as demonstrated in that Brighton game last season.

I can accept Adams if Maupay is sold, but it seems we're no longer about to offload any of our players sadly.

Hopefully if he signs he sits on the bench for 37 games and never plays.

Hopefully if he plays he hits the 22 goals hes scored in his best season.

If he signs I will sadly have to support him, yet another crap player to cheer on every week, yay.

That goes both ways though.

Players with options will also do their research. They have agents and advisors. More and more players use third part analytics specialists when they choose what league to play in and for what clubs.

Players have a lot to lose on signing for the wrong club. And Everton seem to be the wrong club for most players they have signed. And Dyche seems to be the wrong manager for players under 27. If you are under 27 and sign for Everton you either do it for the money or you are poorly advised.

I think that's too pessimistic. Status and history aside, we're still a premier league club and that has a pull , why would any player sign for any team that is going to be ina relegation battle by your logic?

A target man suits this team better, we can surely agree on that? If you think Adams is rubbish and will be no good that's fair enough, but surely you agree with me about a target man Vs a Maupay type.
I’m old enough to remember that argument being made for Rondon

If Che Adams was signing for Villa or West Ham, would you view it as a clever signing?

If Notts Forest got him, would it save them?
