We were more clinical. We did need about 10 behind the ball for much of that match though.

No question for me that over the two games we played them they were the better footballing team.
We where playing on the counter. I wouldn't read too much into the possession or territorial stats to determine who was the better team.

We scored two breakaways. Ross had a goal disallowed that was narrowly offside, Distin hit the bar from 4 yards and McGeady missed a sitter.

If you actually look at the clear cut chances we had the better ones too.

Agree mate. He put a defensive shift in tonight which when he first signed I didn't think he had in him when. Still not doing enough with the ball though.
I think having to cover for Hibbo probably hurt him in that respect. I thought he had another good game and I'm not his biggest fan.

However I would still love us to sign Perisic or Shaqiri.

Perhaps because he has high standards when it comes to Everton?

To him, a good season is finishing 1st rather than 7th, quite rightly.

He's no more negative than some stuff I read here.
Yeah but he's also one extremely boring [Poor language removed] too.

Not a bad week really. Spurs game looks like the exact type of game we'll spew on Sunday like but get a result and we've somehow managed to piss the hardest group in the Europa League with a game to spare and stay within one win of a Champions League place in the league.

We haven't even got going yet, not by a long chalk, so if we are liable to hit a patch of form then we should be sound. Could do with the injuries slacking off a bit though if we are to do it.

Did you see how we were set up against Wolfsburg? Sound in defence, control the ball in the middle and destroy teams on the counter? That's our ticket that, the way we can get results against top teams that Moyes wasn't capable of playing.

Big game away to City on the horizon too. We'll see then.

Well in Everton.

So true mate. He was desperate to say we would get tonked because we have no other way how to play. Came across as a bit of a tit tbh imo but maybe that's a good thing, maybe he sees a team actually capable of doing something and making a mark in our history for a change. Some players love that whilst others maybe not so much and enjoy the limelight of being a boss player from the past. I don't know, never met him and he's a legend so I'm probably chatting crap.

I love rats and can sort of understand his point but I thought like you say he was trying to put a dampener on things. Martinez has shown he sets out to get a point at times (lille away) for example and his comments on lukaku that he was surprised he had such good composure was baffling. The lad's lethal when running at the oppositions keeper

While the Spurs game has frustrating defeat written all over it, with players returning from injury, Lukaku looking like himself and the boost of this win, we could really start gaining some momentum now.

"Could" being the key word, there is an over-arching pessimism that is part and partial of supporting Everton. But we've got a team more than capable of achieving stuff this season. Anyway, we bossed this tonight, made up.

Bit late this mate. Was expecting some German rips.
