I assume that he won't celebrate if Steven Fletcher scores then?
Agreed.
Bet he was ashamed when they had to rely on Hutchison scoring for them at Wembley back in 99 too.

Just because you were born in a stable doesn't make you a horse.
International football is a business like any other, that generates income for local associations to invest in club football etcBut, if you watch a Guinness advert it makes you eligible to play for Ireland.

Ireland and many other countries play by the rules that doesn't define nationality as the country that you are born in but rather the country that you have a direct asssociation with through your ancestry and for which you would prefer to play , due to your allegiance.
Many people are of mixed nationality and it is their choice who they elect to play for.
This doesn't just apply to football but to many other codes and I notice that England aren't adverse to using it to their advantage in cricket and fair play to them.
None of the Irish football team live and work in Ireland, doesnt affect therir nationality or what passport they carryThe cricket team is all England nationals, they all live and work here.
McCarthy and Aids certainly don't live and work in Ireland, maybe have the odd tipple of Guinness with Irn Bru.
