January Transfer Window 2023

I agree the lack of lined up inbounds reflects what we all know, we are the worst run club in the top flight. I see the likes of players we are connected to picking the other relegation threatened sides and I don't blame them. I believe in the Southampton Bournemouth and Wolves projects more than ours. Their scope seems less of a pressure cooker or solely predicated on survival. All caveats to why I think Dyche was a poor choice.

But selling Gordon regardless I don't view as a mistake. If we get relegated I don't think it will be from his absence. And when the trade off is having his fee cut in half post relegation that could be the difference of us staying in the championship or being on the pathway to becoming Sunderland for multiple seasons. Our return will roll over windows and we sold for a good price. We got an inflated return from the right suitor to do so. And with more evidence or the drop I frankly think that 45 could have ended up 30.

It should have been put to use this january, and needs to be reinvested intelligently. If AG's timeline of being in connection with the Magpies all fall is true it makes that fact look even worse. It still was the right choice.

I read the second paragraph mate, we can console ourselves in relegation that we did a good deal - no thanks not for me.

Lets see if we can do anything today and hopefully prove me alarmist.

Here then is our first taste of the Dyche effect.

Deadline day .. clock ticking.

Hey Kamaldene, Conor, Vik, Hakim, Thorgum, Ryan (even Ryan bloody Fraser!!!).

Hows about coming in to join Sean down Goodison way?

Foot of the league but y'now Sean, he's a leader, a battler, bad suits yeah but y'know he's a battler .. tough, tells it how it is .. an tha.

Errr Kam.. er.. Con .. Vik .. Hakim ... Thorium ... Ryan.. Ryan! ... RYAN!!! RYAAAAAAN!!!

No ones coming in are they?

…..the real reason there’s no signings;

Kamaldene Sulamana
Viktor Gyrokeres
Hakim Ziyech
Thorgum Hazzard
Ryan Fraser

All had their own threads. 100% failure.
But there's literally thousands of good players who haven't had their own threads, so why haven't we signed them?

Wasn’t this guy highly rated at one point ? How is he now getting turned down by Bournemouth o_O
Apparently he's been threatened and harassed by Roma ultras and has actually left the city, hence why he is desperate for a move.

Highly rated yes, but like his good mate Moise he is supposedly a huge bell and not worth the trouble. That on top of his injury history has sunk him to those levels. We definitely fit the criteria of being desperate enough to make the move, but I doubt it would happen for a lot of reasons.

If we haven't been able to get any of our targets I would rather us not spend big bucks on panic buys and let Dyche do what he can with what we have.
I take your point mate.. but to be heading out of the window theoretically weaker squad-wise than we were before is suicide and gross negligence of the highest order.

There is a lot of assumption in that post, say he stayed and assisted in keeping us like last season and triggered interest next summer, his value could have appreciated - both that narrative and your are best of subjectivity.

I know we are short, i know we a player in his position, i know not having said player makes it more likely we go down then if we did have that player, therefore i stick to the opinion - that it would be better having a player then not having a player. It was stupid sanctioning the deal until we had someone lined up - which doesn't seem now to be the case. We could have sanctioned his deal today and not Sunday - knowing whether we had someone in or not.

I can understand people who wanted him gone, now faced with an uncomfortable truth - that we are weaker - but im not even accusing that judgement, it could be Jordon Pickford - be stupid sanctioning his sale - without having another keeper to come in with two days left in the window. I dont blame people for the assumption we would reinvest the money to be honest - i presumed the same.
He literally said that he didn't want to play for the club again. It was widely reported, and not refuted. The official site confirmed he handed in a transfer request.

All of that aside, let's assume up to the Wolves game, everything we'd seen from Gordon was his best effort. He was crap. What help do you think he realistically would have been when his heart wasn't in it? We can very easily promote another run-around-a-lot eager beaver from the U23s that will be as much, if not more use.

It's clear we don't agree on the subject and that's all good. Let's just take solace in the Geordies slowly realising what a horrible investment they've made, to take the edge off our whimpering relegation surrender.

Terrible window. Worse than this one:
