Your Top 5 Computer Games Ever.....

I don't play video games, I'm much too mature for all that nonsense...

Quite right, when you're the right side of forty, twiddling with your joystick and getting nasty pus filled blisters on your hands is something left to the younger riff raff of today, I remember around 1982 having a Binatone home "entertainment" system.

The least said, the better.

1, Final fantasy 7,

2, Zelda ocarina of time,

3,Mario 64,

4,Everquest 2 (still playing the damn thing afyer almost 5 years),

5, Persona 4.

Others that dont make my top 5 are..

Fable 2,
MGS2,
Final Fantasy X,
Demons souls (very close to the top 5 that one),
Goldeneye,
Half Life,
Resident evil 4,
Gran Tourismo 3,
Silent Hill 2,
Disgaea 3,

In no particular order:

International Superstar Soccer Deluxe (snes)
Alex the kid in miracle world (master system)
Street Fighter II world warrior (arcade)
Blitz (commodore vic20)
Pro Evolution series (psx - 360)
Goldeneye (n64)
Tetris (gameboy)

yeah, i know that's seven but it would've been disrespectful to leave any of em out

great idea for a thread - so many happy memories

Great thread. Will read it all tomorrow but I hope someone has said Final Fantasy 7?

Ta lads, some unbelieveble games mentioned in this thread. I honestly don't think though there is a better hero than Solid Snake. That man has saved the planet countless time and is a genuine hardman who you respect.

Love metal gear!!

Not long till the PES 2010 vs FIFA 2010 battle commences, come on the Pro Evo!!!

1. Soldier of Fortune 2
2. Pro Evo series
3. Theme Hospital
4. Age of Empires 2
5. Football Manager series

Again, not in order, just the 5 games I enjoyed playing the most.

Right on, i was like right in to that. Probably more AOE first one though. Used to play in tournaments and stuff. Don't have time these days though.

2 - Gran Turismo/2/3 (PS & PS2)
3 - System Shock 2 (PC)

Cannon Fodder
Syndicate
Theme Park/Hospital
Doom
Freespace 2
Descent
Privateer
Elite: First Encounters (when it worked)
Janes Combat Simulators

Is premier manager still around? boss game that was on the Amiga

Don't think it is. Before Championship Manager PM was the daddy!

Sensible soccer - loved the twenty year career won the european cup in the final year with hereford utd

fifa 09

medal of honour

megalomania

rome total war

Two awesome games, tho imo SensiSoccer was not as good as the Anco/Dino Dini Kick-Off/Goal series.

Wasn't the ISS Pro series the precursor to the Pro Evo series?? Loved the originals :)

Love the oldschool. Seriously, the only thing that has gotten 'better' over the years is the graphics.

I don't think Football Manager as it is now is the same game as you are thinking off. Originally it was Championship Manager and first came out on the Amiga in the early nineties. CM3 (I think, maybe 4) was the best imo. Played 30 seasons in one game in my final year of uni! :)

My 5:
Champ/Footy Manager series - many hours lost to these games during my life

Doom/Quake - Got me into PC gaming. Without them I might not be here now. Quake is still the best pure 1v1, FFA FPS imo. Others might have better/flashier graphics, better team modes etc, but iD hit the jackpot with the MP side on Quake. It just all 'works'. Only Q3 really comes close for pure FPS DM gameplay.

Civilization series (II onwards) - The No.1 strategy games. Ever. Who cares if it's turn based?

Kick Off 2/Goal - The best footy games ever. Forget all your modern gimmicks, Sensible Soccer's 'pinball football', etc. The best, most accurate (for the time), purest translation of the sport to the computer screen, as long as you resisted the temptation to use the 'computer passing'. No other football game recreated the feeling of playing a through ball through to your striker, curling it in between the full back and center back like this game. Scoring overhead kicks off perfectly delivered crosses was orgasmic. And all of this was only achievable thru your own skill, as opposed to the computer assisted games they churn out nowadays :(

Kick Start II - Cool Trials game on the Speccy, first game where you could make your own levels, which opened a massive **** off gate for me and various forms of editing became something that I continue to do nowadays, almost more so than actually playing games

Yeah mate, they bought the name after they split with Eidos, who took the CM name and ruined it. The original was great though at the time. Never got into the Kick off games, well hard to control the ball. Only thing about SWOS was there were too many positions where you could score every time as the GK was crap. Just to the side of the centre circle was my fave, pull the joystick right back and to the side and you'd lob the keeper every time.

Oh and imo the best CM game by a mile was Championship Manageer Italia, upped the series a notch when they brought that out
