Your Top 5 Albums of 2012...So Far

Purity Ring's debut could be my album of the year but like I said I need to listen to it a bit more first. I picked a five I've listened to inside and out.

I've just burned it on to...... I mean errr gone on to iTunes and bought it.

yeah that's nailed on, if the rest is as good as Octopus and Day Four.

Kele must really believe this album is the sh*t. Didn't he say it was the best stuff they've ever done? If so that's a very, very bold statement as Silent Alarm was sublime and certainly in my all time top 10.

I know. I can barely contain the jizz. Silent Alarm is easily in my all time top 10 as well.

My personal list is pretty heavy on experimental hip-hop though there's a bit of indie folk as well.

Death Grips - The Money Store

A truly terrifying album, visceral stuff but a terrific listen.

El-P - Cancer 4 Cure.

Best alternative producer out there bar none. Great lyricist as well and some amazing features.

Father John Misty - Fear Fun

Fun lyrics, folk tales of Californian decadence.

John Talabot - Fin

A fan favourite on here, just a top listen.

Perfume Genius - Put Your Back N 2 It

Best way to describe this record I'd say is fragile, I think it's really beautiful in a kinda sad way.

Special mentions to Killer Mike - R.A.P Music (also EL-P produced), Mystery Jets - Radlands, Passion Pit - Gossamer, The 2 Bears - Be Strong, Purity Ring - Purity Ring.

Fully expect the new Animal Collective and Mountain Goats to be in there by the years end. Need to give that Cribs album a proper go as well.

Glad you're loving John Talabot mate! I don't think you need any more evidence now RFUS!

I got that El-P purely on hearing good things about it, although I have no idea what it is. I'll get on that this weekend.

The El-P album has got some really great production on it so I think you'll enjoy it like, definitely some of the best stuff I've heard on a hip-hop album.

I've only bought one album this year
