Time to start this up again for the coming season....

Championship
Ipswich Town - Conor Grant started on the bench and came on in the second half of a 4-2 home win over Barnsley

OS Match Report

Twitter stuff
72: Driving run from Conor Grant who then unleashes a left-footed drive that stings the palms of Tykes 'keeper Davies (3-1)

Fan forums
"Conor Grant looks like a good technical player as well. Possibly lacked a bit of aggression and physical presence - but has he had a proper pre season?"
"Ward will rightly get the plaudits but this lad will be just as good. Both looked class today."
"C. Grant is a proper midfield player, very tidy."
"Bit hesitant to challenge for a header before their first goal and never really got into the game but he has just joined and showed some good touches. I reckon it'll take time for him to settle and for us to then see the best of him"
"He could be said to have made an error in being beaten for their equaliser, but he put it behind him and then some. A very assured performance from a young man."

League Two
Cheltenham Town - Russell Griffiths started and played whole match in 1-1 home draw with Leyton Orient

OS Match Report
"Chances came for both sides at the start of the second half, goalkeeper Russell Griffiths, also making his first CTFC appearance produced a couple of smart saves to keep the score 1-0"

Twitter stuff
54: Massey hits a volley from 25 yards that Griffiths does well to push out for a corner- which is cleared by Suliman
63: Cornick hits a free-kick from 25 yards but Griffiths is up to the challenge - pushing it away and out of the danger area

Fan forum
"Griffiths - looked fine, only one save of note but confident enough (6)"
"Bloody hell. Griffiths kept us in the game! A 6 is an insult."
"keeper had one good shot to stop , kicking was generally good"
"I thought Suliman and Griffiths did well considering they've only been here 48 hours. The one stop from Griffiths was fantastic as he couldn't have seen it till very late."

This will be a telling season for Conor. Last season at League One, this season at Championship. Steadily progressing through the leagues and will hopefully be featuring for our first team next season.

got the feeling this may be the only thread with something positive to read.
Thanks in advance Atrottel

Dont count ya chickens, im sure there will be some who drop by to remind us weekly player x wont make it here... is a great thread to see how the young fellas are getting on. Always interesting to read what other teams fans think about the lads

Brilliant Atrottel, really enjoy reading this stuff. That interview with Russell Griffiths was great, seems really down to earth and very eloquent for a footballer. Sort of person you hope would do well.

League Cup
Ipswich Town - Conor Grant played full match in 0-1 home defeat to League Two Stevenage

OS Match Report
"Gerken was quick off his line to stop Rowan Liburd getting on the end of Lee’s pass, while at the other end Grant just failed to connect with the loose ball as he raced into the box."
"Kevin Bru sent his free-kick over the bar from 25 yards after Grant had been fouled, then Gerken had to move quickly to beat out Tom Conlon’s free-kick and keep the scores level at the break."
"McGoldrick sent a curler onto the roof of the net as Town looked for an immediate response, Grant then seeing his low drive held by Jones."
"Kennedy whipped a left footer over the bar as Stevenage looked for a second goal, Grant and then McGoldrick responding for Town with shots but Jones and Boro held firm to book their place in the second round."

Twitter stuff
22: Good work from Conor Grant to win the ball for Town, drive towards goal and whip over a cross. Corner to #itfc coming up (0-0)
Free-kick to Town in a dangerous area as Grant is bundled over on the edge of the box, after the loanee skipped past his man (0-)
65: Better from Town as some patient build-up play leads to the ball being worked to Grant, who shifts onto his left and fires at Jones
85: McGoldrick with a left-foot sighter at goal that Jones claws out of the air, before that Grant saw a drive blocked #itfc (0-1)

Fan comments
"Conor Grant the bright spark for us"
"Grant: 6 - Solid and tidy. Wish he would have cracked a few more shots off but found the right pass more often than not."
"Conor Grant - What a gem we have found with him, he's very direct, comfortable on the ball, has the ability and courage to have a shot - a good one too. Also has the capability to lurk about then make a movement to receive the ball and send it out wide to space. His passing ability is great, his movement is superb, a technically gifted player."

Cheltenham Town - Russell Griffiths played full match in 1-0 home win over League One opponents Charlton Athletic

OS Match Report

No particular comments anywhere - seems like he didn't have much to do.

Championship
Ipswich Town - Conor Grant started and was substituted in the 65th minute of a 0-2 away loss to Brentford

OS Match Report
"Conor Grant and Grant Ward both went close for Blues early on but three minutes after half-time, Egan was left alone to head in from a corner."
"Hogan almost got on the end of Romaine Sawyers’ pass but Town continued to carry a threat, Grant’s fierce strike pushed on to the near post by Bentley, then Christophe Berra headed over from the resultant corner."

Twitter stuff
18: Grant with a free-kick from 25 yards that goes over the ball but just wide of Bentley's right post (0-0)
SAVE! Bentley tips Grant's effort onto the post and behind for a corner, excellent work from the @everton loanee (0-0)
38: Grant climbs highest at the back-post to meet a driven Chambers cross but the winger can't keep his header down and Bentley collects

Fan comments
"Grant was our stand-out player. First he narrowly missed from free kick and second he struck the post following quick counter attack"
"Grant. 5. Tried hard, excel, ent dead ball delivery, subbed...why?"
"Knudsen and Grant look good. Not great, just good. As individuals as a unit. It was through them that a game lacking much in the way of cheer yielded some semblance of hope."

League Two
Cheltenham Town - Russell Griffiths started and played whole match in 1-1 away draw at Mansfield Town

OS Match Report
"Minutes later Matt Green outmuscled Pell in the Cheltenham half and got a powerful shot away from distance, but Griffiths pulled off an outstanding save to keep the game at 0-0."

Twitter stuff
32: Great save from Griffiths! Green's shot from 25 yards is saved low to his right by the @everton loanee. Still 0-0

No particular comments at the moment.

Great starts by both of them it seems, would be great to see a home grown keeper at Goodison, practically never happens in the league any more.

Indeed, so difficult for a GK to make it at his first club when they don't have the game time and experience to compete for the No1 jersey. Hope he does well enough to have his loan extended for a full season, although it's League2 that's a good standard at 20 , allowing him to gain experience when many lower league managers won't risk taking on a young GK of promise.
