Player Valuation: £35m
A few papers reporting negotiations on extended contracts with three players (Jagielka and Howard are the other two) mention the fact that the discussions with Yobo might prove thorny:
Guardian
Yobo has only 12 months remaining on his contract at Everton and could prove the most problematic of the three players regarding a new deal. The Nigeria international is understood to want parity with the club's highest earners in order to commit his future to Everton but he is unlikely to be offered a salary that matches, for example, Mikel Arteta's.

Wouldn't want to see Yobo leave, but if there's any truth in this story, I can see it happening. quite rate Yobo myself, but he isn't of the same importance to us like Arteta and Cahill. So he shouldn't be on parity with them I believe. Hope it's all paper bull**** though and he signs the new contract.

To be fair though, he'll be just about 30 when his contract runs out - can't blame him for looking for one last big pay-day before his pace goes and he becomes little more than average.

It's a shame, but he knows that almost any other club in the league would gladly come in with a bigger offer...

After 7 years of quality service to the club without the remotest complaint when he wasn't getting into the 1st XI and knowing that it'd cost us a fair few million to bring in an equal replacement - I hope we don't lose him just to save an extra 500k or so a year.

I do rate Yobo highly but since he come back from injure he has not reach he same high level which we all know he is capable of, saying that with all the things he has done in the past season and as he could still play at a pretty high standard, it does merit him to have a pay raise.

But certainly not quite reach the same level as Arteta and Cahill, if we are talking about Jagielka here, it would be a different matter.

I think there's a deal on the table. I remember reading months back he's been offered a new contract with a testimonial that his agent reported to have been happy about.

If not, he's got 12 months left to hammer out a deal or lets flog him for some cash.

I don't think he'll go this Summer(maybe Jan though?) as we'll need him til atleast Sept/Oct when Jags is back

IF we were to look for quality CBs to replace Yobo in the near future I'd go for one of three:

Wheater
Hangeland
Bassong
Samba

I'd give him the contract just for his service to the club. Make sure he gets himself a testimonial.

IF he's asking for parity with the likes of Cahill and Arteta, to me that's daft. He is in no way vital to the team as our best line up doesn't include him

I've always been a big fan of Joey but he can't compete with Jags and Lescott so i'd be sad but would rather buy someone younger and make a bit of money out of him while he's still able to command a decent fee personally

Yobo is a vital cog for the FA Cup Final. I would love him to stay at the club as he gives the club experienced cover.

If any of the central defenders have to leave i would want it to be Yobo. Jags and Lescott are possibly the best partnership outside the manure pair.
