Everton Alumni Yakubu Ayegbeni

One of my favourite ever goals that. So smooth.
The first goal shows great technique, power and accuracy.

The second goal which is also a favourite of mine and most memorable, is one of great guile, skill and coolness.

The third goal is bread and butter, right positional sense and finish.

All the goals are of equal worth except in the sense of overall entertainment.

A great striker will have all of these attributes and a prospect that exhibits them in a scouting sense is well worth a look.

For a striker learning his trade they are all important to have a good grasp of, to get yourself noticed.

Loved the Yak.

Should've got him around 2006 once Beattie was no good as his goalscoring record was excellent for Portsmouth but he took the money at Boro.

Shame with the Spurs injury. Arguably he could've been the most consistent striker Moyes signed if that injury hadn't occurred.

His goal record in prem:

2003/04- 16 goals
2004/05- 13 goals
2005/06- 13 goals
2006/07- 15 goals
2007/08- 15 goals (was at AFCON for over a month in this season)
2008/09- 5 goals
2009/10- 5 goals
2010/11- 1 goal but his time had more than passed here.
2011/12- 17 goals for Blackburn in his prem farewell.

So far more than one hit wonders that likes of Johnson and Jelavic were in that era.

That smile but him absolutely wrecking some Liverpool player off the ball in a derby. Shame he had a falling out with Moyes for whatever reason. Was such a fantastic player for us!

he was dropped for saha after this game who had been injured. at the time saha would get a goal every 3 games, but his all round play as a lone striker was poor

yak then get sold to blackburn in the summer and bagged around 15 league goals. real shame

i heard from an ex liverpool player that moyes was convinced he was in his mid 30s rather than his stated age, and thats a reason why he wanted to move him on

Saha literally went a calendar year without scoring for us.

he was infuriating for a good while, but you see the highlights clips and he looks a world beater

he certainly good finish of either foot and score all types of goals, and had really good technical ability

i just don’t think he was at all suited to being a lone striker, and i don’t think he had the application or work rate either

"Nigerian age."

Moyes would probably get six month ban now if he said that in this era!
