It may not cause a decision to occur but it does lead to every decision that goes against a team being perceived as worse than it actually is - Garner's tackle being one example of many. There are people fuming about it but it was a tackle from behind which refs are instructed to be very strict on.

And as the ref is viewing from a different angle to the TV cameras it could have looked a little untidy or like contact was made. I'd give him a pass all things considered.

From what I remember he did get it clean as a whistle from our angle but the ref can't be viewing incidents from every angle possible in that moment. It's not impossible for it to look a little clumsy from where he was so I think 'horrific decision' is maybe a little hyperbolic within the context of the tackle.
It was the close proximity of where the referee was standing to where the challenge was made which made it such an awful decision. Are you happy with it being as such?

Angles matter as much as proximity - sometimes more. You can be stood 20 yards away from something and see more than someone 2 yards away if the angles give you a better line of sight. One single incident can look different from 2 different angles.

Incorrect decision? Yes.
Awful or an example of appalling standards? I think that's maybe exaggerated.

When was the last time we went and signed 3 first team players that integrated into the side and style of play as near as damnit instantly?
I talked about this in the New Owners thread last week. There were no transfer windows then but in 1960 we signed Tommy Ring, Jimmy Gabriel, Roy Vernon and Alex Young. All this not long after we brought in Bobby Collins and Alex Parker and all instant 1st teamers.
