Winslow Hotel - RIP

Don't get me wrong, im a big supporter of the women's game. I coached girls teams in the early days of its revival in the 90s.

But when the pros start banging on about deserving equal pay, whether or not they get the same interest or footfall, it gets under the skin - just the sheer stupidity of the claim - as if economy isn't relevant. Maybe if their own sisterhood supported them better by filling up Goodison each week they'd be able to achieve better pay - but the bleating is always done, it seems to me, on the grounds that its down to nasty old males being sexist.

And I'm very much in the camp that men footballers are stupidly overpaid too ... there's too much money swilling about the game and it attracts the greedy, not necessarily those who love the sport.
Not sure in any case how you can have equal pay when even the pay isn't equal across the men's game.....who would anyone equalise pay against an Erling Harland on 500k a week or a break though young lad on a grand a week. Nonsense and doesn't work at all in sports unless you are talking about prize money.

The difference is you are allowed to comment on how unfair it is to have unequal pay among men of different abilities without getting pilloried by triggered angry virtue signallers for being sexist!

Didnt the yanks role over for the international sides when the funny coloured hair one kicked up a fuss and ended up mat the White House on a press conference

Reckon it'll be open this Friday or early on Saturday? Wouldn't mind going for a final pint
Spoke to Dave earlier, its open from 4pm tomorrow. The women have got a game over road so a decent chance to grab a last bevy in their if you're not going to the party on Saturday 🍻

What always wound me up about the Winslow was that one week you could pay card the next week it was cash only. On more than one occasion in there I would get served and then on payment it was suddenly cash only that week and I'm stood there with only a card and no cash.
the horror

will head down to the womens game tonight and have a bevvy in there

loved that pub, rarely ever drank inside it, mostly just on the street outside staring up at the main stand

ended up making good friends through the winslow after the game, just get chatting to blues either in jubilation or despair

it will be missed

Very rarely drank in there because it was always packed, but standing outside/passing by it on a match day was very much part of the experience

It’s such a shame it couldn’t remain viable

I do occasionally still nip to County Road on a match day and, Brick aside, that’s gradually becoming a ghost town

Just sad to see
