The owner that runs it now has done a very good job bringing the pub back to life. I do recall that it was closed for a season or two can't remember exactly when but maybe around 2010-2015?

Thing is even if the womens team was a success and they were getting big crowds once a fortnight I still can't imagine that would bring enough footfall into the pub as peoples matchday traits for the womens game are probably a bit more sensible and easier on the liver.

Is ‘The Spellow’ still going? Im going to Leeds game and had plan to do a pub crawl from The Winslow to Bramley Moore…Any suggestions for route? Was thinking Spellow, Harlech Arms, ??

Used to dive in and when I got to the bar would always order two pints.

Also I had an Uncle who lived just half way down Eton Street.

Women’s team will gone by the end of next season. It was a token gesture while they sort the real plans for the land.

I went into that Ten Streets Social before the Forest game, never been there before. Good atmosphere, 2 massive screens. loads of bar staff so really quick to get served, I went in the front bit and was served within 5 mins, went and stood at the back bit with the benches and was once again served really fast at one of those kiosks they have set up. Only a fiver for a pint of Guinness as well.

Said this elsewhere but..

It's a shame, but it was always going to be one of the first to call it a day. It only opened match days & for functions, plus being a pure blue pub would never have had too many regulars even if it had regular hours.

The area around the ground still has a high number of pubs compared to most other areas of the city, the better run pubs will survive, but tbh too many of them coasted along solely on the match day revenue & never reinvested back into the pub. It's a tough game but a few of the pubs didnt help themselves, keeping the decor the same for decades, not trying to attract more varied customers or try different revenue streams. The more unfortunate inevitable closures to come should help out the other pubs in the area though.

Kind of wish Everton decided to fully redevelop the Goodison site as that would have been a real chance for complete regeneration of the area.

Thrilled to hear this;

Bond said "there will be tears" but added it was "a goodbye to the old and hello to the new" as he plans to open a new Everton venue called Dixie's on Dickson Street, near Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Bond said he would do his best "to recreate The Winslow" there.

I haven't lived in Liverpool since I was 15, so the Winslow didn't matter. I've been to many matches at Goodison since on visits, but the only time I went in there I couldn't get near the bar.

Also might add my Grandma lived off Luxmore Road and my Uncle John is still there. Going to hte games would park outside Grans who always put out a small ladder to reserve the space. After a cuppa would walk through the alleys straight to Gwladys Street.

This was the sad but inevitable reality of the move. There was never any real chance of all the pubs around Goodison surviving without the match day revenue. I knew the Oak would be alright as it gets regular coustmers outside of the football, in a way that none of the others did. I'm truly shocked that the Brick is still hanging on, they seem to have found a way to keep going with coaches going to and from the game pre and post game along with other stuff. They still seem to have a strong enough base of people to keep going. Long may that continue.

Is it Dave from the Winslow who is involved in the Dock Wall bar in Dickson St. ? Heard it's sound ,will be trying it before the Leeds game.

Are you saying that the women's game doesn't attract the same footfall to the economy? But surely they deserve equal pay! Somehow.

I've never heard of any woman footballer demanding equal pay
Makes no sense in football anyway coz the men don't have equal pay either
